Atlas was ready to return home from a post apocalyptic world. But betrayed at the last possible moment by his so called “friends”, he took revenge, by chucking a sword at the portal…nothing bad could happen right?
Atlas awakens in his old life, with one glaring difference: he has been sent two years back in time! Armed with the knowledge of the events that are to come, he’s not going to spend it sitting on his ass.
The portals will open again, and he’ll be ready:
Step 1. Get some cash
Step 2. Find some like minded people. Form a fight team!
Step 3. Go back to the wasteland
Step 4. Kick ass

The premise of the story was interesting and not entirely what I was expecting. I'm not the biggest fan of prologues, and the narrator didn't do it justice in my opinion. But it did set the stakes for the rest of the book. Not all the stakes, but enough for me to keep listening. I would like to note that past the prologue, the narration improved significantly over all.
The main character did not come off as a know-it-all, over-powered, jerk as I would expect from someone in his position. Don't get me wrong, the MC has skills. But he also realizes he needs a certain amount of help and finds those who he thinks can. I was happy to see character development for the MC.
The side characters have depth and are believable. The humor is a mixed bag, most of it hit perfectly. There were a couple jokes that I thought were unnecessary to the story, but not so much that I stopped reading. The action was good, not overyly done. Most of the fights were exciting and engaging.
I was annoyed when the book ended and wanted more. Fortunately the author written several books in this series!
This was a lot of fun!

Atlas having the right answer at nearly every turn makes it unbearable to continue to read. I was bored and skipped three chapters and felt like the story didn’t really move forward and skipped another three.
The narration is lacking and I initially thought I was listening to an AI narrator. The production quality of the audiobook is so bad that I was surprised during dialogue, paragraphs, and chapters. There are few breaks between these sequences that it’s jarring. Characters are portrayed fine and they had a decent amount of uniqueness but overall lacking.
I wanted to like this, it started off strong then it fell off hard. If the story, dialogue, and the MCs ability to pull answers out of thin air, gets better I would pick it back up. As of right now, it’s a dropped series for me.
Interesting premise, execution lacking
