Good but why is there such obsession with people being overweight

I am on book 2 of this series and I'm enjoying the story, but the thing that keeps standing out and feels bizarre let alone having no relevance to the story is how often it's pointed out characters being "fat". It almost seems like a joke it's so frequent. From large wobbling jowls to too fat for the car to so fat he's in a wheelchair....

Enjoying this series

Another great journey with Rileigh & Mitch. I could seriously do without the male narrator’s character voices, he’s great when reading but when it comes to being a character, male or female, he makes them sound absolutely touched in the head. It’s painful to listen to. On the other hand, Megan Tusing is so easy to listen to, she has a smooth voice and makes character changes noticeable. Overall it’s a good listen, as long as you can get through Corey Snow’s parts.

Great Characters

This is book 2 of this series and I’m thoroughly enjoying these. Love the characters even though I wish the sheriff had a little more personality but the main character has plenty. Well written and narrated nicely!

Decent summer read

Still mostly charmed by the characters. This story had a few more similarities than I would have liked to the first book (spoiler alert: specifically, the villain in this story was another older, mentally ill woman). I’ll give the next one a go - mostly because the first in the series was free, and the subsequent ones have been really inexpensive.

On the narrators — Megan Tusing was excellent once again. I was thinking Corey M. Snow was doing a better job with this one than previous, less robotic. That was true, then he mispronounced Des Moines repeatedly. Does no one ever edit/check place name pronunciation? It happens too frequently in audiobooks. It’s disappointing because it takes you out of the story.

Not my favorite

The first book in the series caught my attention but I hated the plot of this one. The switching between timelines was also a bit confusing and not at all seamless, which kept me from really getting invested in the story. I just didn’t care enough to pay close attention or rewind.
