Will Matt be allowed a new beginning in his life, both personally and professionally. or will the forces in play be too many obstacles to overcome?

For one week in the wild and stormy month of January, Horning calls on all of his detective skills to investigate the unlikely murder. As soon as he starts asking questions, Port Stirling begins to unveil its dark underbelly amid stunning revelations. Good team work to solve murder

Excellent book. The narration was good. The book flows well when new Chief arrives everyone worked endlessly to solve a murder. Ending was not what I expected however kept me listening

Interesting characters and plot

It took me a few chapters to get into the story. The narrator sounded a lot like AI, so I was tempted to delete the book within the first couple of chapters. I'm glad I gave it another chance! Once the story took hold, it was a good mystery. Likewise, once the narrator started using more inflection, the AI-like tone of his voice was less distracting. I like the characters, they are well developed. The story moves at a good clip. The next book in the series has me interested; I appreciated the several chapter introduction to it.

I liked the narration, but the story bored me a little. I would have liked the story to be more interesting.

Great start to series

This is the first book where I’ve seen the lead investigator bring in multiple groups.
I was easily drawn into the characters and the story. I’m excited to listen to more. Perfect narrator for the main character.

Impartial as "Port Stirling" is my actual home❤️

I live in the town where these books are set so it's more exciting and intriguing right off the bat but the books themselves are great whodunits and the way Kay builds the characters and paints the picture is spot on. I will definitely be reading the entire series and be on the look out for any new ones she throws our way! 📚
