Philip Russell, a US Park Ranger for a small island in the Pacific Northwest, has stumbled across a dead body in the forest. Unsure if the dead woman is a local or someone from the mainland, the new female sheriff has come to Rockfish Island to find out if the community has anything still to fear.

Eager to help solve the mystery, both instantly find themselves at odds with each other. Philip, defending the people he's known his whole life, and Sheriff Lane, giving no one the benefit of the doubt...not even Philip. Together, the investigation progresses, and both quickly realize that on this sleepy island not everyone is who they pretend to be...and someone may be a killer.

Keep me engaged from start to finish!

I loved that it was set in PNW! This whodunit kept me engaged from start to finish. JC Fuller did an EXCEPTIONAL job describing enough, characters included, that I truly could envision everything including the scenery. I cannot wait to dive into book two!

Stupid title,good book

On the verge of being a cozy mystery but it wasn’t! Much better. Had grit, characters that could stand alone and a real who done it!

Mystery, and my horrible guessing!

This book kept me on the edge of my seat!!! And my 2nd guess was the correct one, but it took me a minute. This audio was amazing!!
