Mercy Thompson is a shapeshifter, and while she was raised by werewolves, she can never be one of them, especially after the pack ran her off for having a forbidden love affair. So she’s turned her talent for fixing cars into a business and now runs a one-woman mechanic shop in the Tri-Cities area of Washington State.

But Mercy’s two worlds are colliding. A half-starved teenage boy arrives at her shop looking for work, only to reveal that he’s a newly changed werewolf—on the run and desperately trying to control his animal instincts. Mercy asks her neighbor Adam Hauptman, the Alpha of the local werewolf pack, for assistance.

But Mercy’s act of kindness has unexpected consequences that leave her no choice but to seek help from those she once considered family—the werewolves who abandoned her...

Ok, I’m a long time listener to audiobooks. I have read, listened and enjoyed the Mercy Thompson series for years. I enjoy when the narrator does different voices for different characters. This format has different people voicing characters although for the minor roles I think some were double or triple roles for the same person. I had to slow the recording down to .9 of the original as I thought Mercy’s narration was too fast. I was also disappointed that Stephan had an American accent and not the Italian one that Lorelei King uses. The addition audio effects were interesting, I can understand the car noises, doors opening and closing, people walking etc… those type of noises enhanced the listening. But the sound effect when a character was smelling something was weird and distracting. I did enjoy the underlying music, it did enhance my listening experience.

A different way to listen to audiobooks

Best series I’ve read (or listened to) in a long time. Love the storyline, characters, everything! I’ve reread the series at least 4 times!

Love this series!

My favorite authors (other than Brandon Sanderson, who is without equal) are Jim Butcher, Benedict Jacka & Kevin Hearne so when I pick up a new author, that’s the reference point against which I measure… and this story did not disappoint… i’m gonna keep listening and decide if I found a new favorite author or not….

OK, I’m a believer, next book, please
