Celeste is one of only a hundred remaining humans on Earth, living on a secured preserve away from the many dangerous monsters out in the world. But some monsters desperately want human companions—and they’ll abide by all the strict rules and requirements to get one. Celeste has applications piling up from those who want to court her, but she’s afraid of taking the leap... until Theo.

Theo the minotaur is shy, gentle, and kind, and wants nothing more than a human wife to spoil. When Celeste agrees to move in and start a trial marriage, he’ll do anything in his power to keep her happy and safe in a world where a human might make a great meal for another monster.

The only problem? Theo is huge in more than one way—and he knows Celeste isn’t ready for him yet. It will take trust and time to prepare her as they start to build their new life together, and it might just lead to falling in love.

I wish this story was dual pov. But the audio was enjoyable, I read this when it was first released and liked listening to the audio for it.

Great!

I love this book listened to it all in one sitting. I think it had just enough spice and I love how sweet and romantic it could also be.

cozy, cute, and hot 🔥

These characters were so cute! I love the concept of a human companion and monsters submitting forms haha. Theo was so shy and sweet at first but when it comes to the bedroom his confidence really shows. I didn’t care for the voice and tone the narrator chose for Theo but that’s just my personal preference and others might love it!

I love me a sweet but confident Minotaur

I have been on a monster romance kick and saw this one in the bunch of audiobooks I grabbed in the Audible big winter sale and thought it would be right up my alley. Unfortunately it fell short for me. It felt forced in spots, the writing didn't flow for me like I had wanted. I had been listening to a lot of honey Phillips before this and was hoping for a similar vibe but this didn't get close.

I didn't like the narration to be honest. The female narrator didn't distinguish between the characters, she sounded very whiney for the FMC and made me not like or connect with her. I think the way the author wrote her as well didn't lend itself for connection from the reader, as much as she could have had. I didn't feel like our MMC was acting how the author was trying to portray, especially with him trying to voice his feelings/wants/desires. With the one-dimension writing and the sub-par narration, I couldn't give it more than 3 stars. I did enjoy though some of the banter and the hidden away/pop culture lack of knowledge. I did giggle at some moments, which is why I rounded up from a 2.5/5 stars to a 3!

I got another in the series so I am going to give this author another chance. I feel like there is potential but we'll see how they execute it in another of their audiobook. If that one is at the same level as this, then I will probably pass on future books. The concept of this world with humans being in short supply and having trial marriages was great, just the relationship building and connection need to be strengthened.

not great execution, not favorite audio
