Publisher's summary

Clyde Hatchett, Glaton's prodigal son, is finally home.

Sure, he's got a whole new body and face, so nobody recognizes him. And technically he's not from Glaton—he's really only spent a few months there. But they say home is wherever your love resides, and since Nadya lives in Glaton . . . wait, does Clyde actually love Nadya?

This is getting complicated.

That, on top of all the problems Clyde left behind, which haven't gotten any less knotty while he was gone. The Senate is heating up, with numerous noble idiots vying for the throne. More gangs and more monsters than ever threaten the streets. And it seems everyone in Old Town wants to look to Clyde for direction, and Clyde isn't sure what to do about any of it.

On a Throne of Lies is political intrigue, grotesque battles, spell slinging, and a bit of smoochy smoochy to go along with all the stabby stabby. Add to that a cameo from everyone's favorite overpowered tank-warrior, and you know you won't want to miss it.

Good series

As usual, it is a good book: good story and narration. - everything I expected from Ugland with Hellegers performing. Looking forward to the next one. I also look forward to the next book in the Good Guy series. I like the fact that the two series are now intersecting. I have often wondered when that would happen. Well, it finally intersected. Good job.

A great return to form!

So I've reviewed several of both of these series, Good Guy and Bad Guy, the earlier entries. They've been fun and engaging reads, hilarious and thoughtful in equal measures. BUT, the last few books of both series took a really hard dip in my opinion, quality wise. I am happy to say that this book feels like a return to the spirit and mood that made me love these series so much in the first place. It's hard to nail down any specific detail alone, that makes the difference, it's more like a bunch of quality of life improvements. Little things here and there that were dragging down the story, and making the previous books a slog to get through, that have since been polished up and refined to no longer drag down, but to elevate the story, to work in service TO it, instead of against it. Plus I feel Eric's writing has just improved as well, like he's been able to refine his own talent a bit in recent years, and it shows. A lot of the plot threads that have been dangling and yoinked back for the entire length of the series, are finally starting to pay off. Some of the foreshadowing of other events, possibly intertwining the 2 series in some ways, also pays off. Just, overall, it's like Eric decided to clean house with his bag of plot threads, and the tapestry he wove them into was made brighter and more varied as a result.

I won't go into any details but if you're reading this review, then you've probably been reading this series for a while (and if not, seriously, book 10?! why is this your jumping on point?! xD ), but if you are an older fan of the series, and you were like me thinking "man, the last few books have lost the spark that I loved" then I think you will be happily surprised with this one. Definitely good, eager for the next one to come out ASAP.

Amazing as always!

I love the intersecting parts between good guys and bad guys series. Awesome how this is all tying together!! Seriously can't wait to shoot back to Montana's perspective now.

Love this series

I love all of Eric Ugland's books set in Vuldranni. It's the series that got me into litrpg to begin with. I only wish that they were longer.

Good

This is a good book, I am required to write something here. I’m tracking stars so I can remember whether I think it’s a good good book.

not as strong as his other books

I am normally a fan of the author but this not his strongest work.

At this point... it's a sunk cost that keeps me listening

The world created is fairly interesting but the storyline is beyond dried up. Small moves forward with repetitive jokes and themes.

Always loves this series, but…

I love this series but I wish there was more action then political talking and sneaking around. But I am always happy to have a few treats from this

The story starts it's weaving end

The story starts to weave the end of 2 series the good and the 2 characters from both serious start to interact in parallel And we get some good ups and lows in the Reed and Is a good cliff hanger
