Acerca de esta escucha

A pantheon of forgotten gods. An old grudge between a talk show host, an heiress, and the man they shattered along the way. A rapidly deteriorating AI system. An inconvenient tiara upon the head of a friend.

It is bedlam on the eighth floor.

As management reels from the unexpected conclusion of the seventh level, the surviving crawlers stumble onto the eighth and find themselves scattered. It’s a map based on Earth’s final days before the collapse, where ethereal, intangible ghosts of humanity go about their lives, oblivious of the impending doom. Living amongst these ghosts are monsters based in Earth lore. “Legendary” creatures tied to the geographical location they inhabit.

Each team of crawlers is given a task: find and capture six of these beasts. The captured monsters will be turned into cards. Cards that can be summoned into battle again and again. The stronger and deadlier the better.

At the end of the floor, the bad guys will also have decks, and they will have some of the most powerful cards available. So it’s crucial to assemble the toughest squad possible.

But like always, there is a catch. There’s always a catch.

As Carl and Donut know all too well, just because someone is captured, it doesn’t mean they have been tamed.

Her name is Shi Maria. She’s easily the most powerful monster in their area. If they want to survive, they must capture her. But she is no ordinary beast. She’s intelligent. She was once married to a god, a god who is now missing. Her special attack is known to drive one insane. They call her the Bedlam Bride.

“Beware, beware. Beware the eye of the Bedlam Bride.”

This book is great. I still prefer books 1-3 but this was much better than the last two. Twists and turns you will never see coming (mostly).

The issue I have is the religious jokes. Most books have them but why did you have to add the crown of thorns or the cross? It was so unnecessary. Made me almost put the book down a couple times.

Narration was absolutely perfect!!!

Amazing book with one huge issue

Regardless of the few complaints I have, I've listened to plenty of audibooks and I just can't rate this lower than a 5/5 for either the performance or story. The combination of Jeff and Matt blow other series out of the water!

That said, I feel like there were more issues with this book than previous. Soundbooth Theater has phenomenal deep dive content and the immersive audio is on another level, however in an audio format like this, less can sometimes be better. This is a monster of a book, which means more mistakes making it harder to catch them all(or most).

Samantha quickly became my favorite character besides the famous duo of Carl & Donut and I'm excited to get more of her in the next book.

The DCC is fascinating. Every character is so unique and wild that if you explained one of them to someone that doesn't have knowledge of DCC they would like at you crazy, but Matt does a phenomenal job giving them their own personality making you like or dislike them even more on a whim.

The pacing is fine for me. Matt has done a great job with the one floor per book, but some details can get really complex. While the extra detail is great, it isn't always necessary to understand the predicament their in. All of the side stories are well done and Jeff does a great job with these! I did notice that Jeff's voice for Donut sounds a bit different in this book and also her character seems to have lost some of her maturity at points that I felt like she gained from the previous book. But maybe that's just me.

Overall I highly recommend this series, but listen in order! I also recommend checking out the immersive audio from Soundbooth Theater. The first episode of DCC was amazing!

Great, but maybe too much?

I loved this one just as much as all of the other books, I can’t believe they got Patrick Walburton. I know it has to come to an end one day but it will pain me when ends.

WOW that epilogue is crazy

Another excellent book. Tons of lol funny moments, and interesting events. As always, the performance is exceptional. Donut doing auto tune is a very funny touch.

This book has me on my toes the whole book. Can’t think of another book I had to stop listening to because I got so excited by what the characters had done.

Amazing

Loved it. Can’t wait for the faction wars. Shaping up to be a really compelling story. So invested in the characters that I’m even a little nervous.

Keep ‘em coming

I've listened to and enjoyed a lot of audiobooks series in my time, but DCC is the best, you'll never want to turn it off! Keep making the sound effects Jeff, the Monk Seal's Bruce Lee impersonation and Samantha's.... noises had be dying every time! Also, can't believe they got Paddy Warbucks, y'all don't miss an opportunity!
Matt's writing is a spectacle to behold in any format. Masterful work in the Epilogue building tension for the war of the 9th Floor!

Extremely Addictive

I always wonder how Matt is gonna top the last book. How is he gonna keep adding to this amazing group of characters? How’s he gonna get me to tear up in a book whose main characters are a barefoot guy in boxers and a sentient cat? Every time, he does it though. I was really impressed how he brought out the backstory this book. And yeah this was no filler book. This was a huge progression.

And as usual, Soundbooth Theater was amazing. I really hope they get more and more gigs for books. They’re probably the most talented audio production company in the business.

Great job everyone. And thank you guest stars for adding even more awesomeness to an already great series.

Keeps getting better

What a book! Jeff Hays killed the narration, and the setup for the next book is sooo good!

Absolutely fantastic

My favorite of the series. This one starts with a recap (thank the gods) and is one of my favorite level stages yet. Best audiobook narration in the game still. I tore through this in just one week!

Best yet
