Publisher's summary

Dream career - gone. The perfect boyfriend - just out of reach. Temp jobs - mind-numbingly dull. Until she finds the body.

After Scarlett Chase is fired from her dream job, she is stuck working temp jobs while she figures out what to do with her life. Her current job of the week might be the most boring of them all until a flash of lightning during a spring storm plunges the entire office building into darkness. When the lights come back on, Scarlett finds Willow Dawn, the eccentric soul healer from upstairs, lying dead behind the dumpster out back. Too bad handsome construction worker Austin Howard is standing over the body holding what could either be a tool of the trade or the murder weapon.

But not everything may be as it seems. In fact, while Scarlett is hunting down clues and trying to save Willow Dawn’s now-abandoned emotional support goat and hamsters, she learns that almost every tenant in the building is hiding a secret or two. Scarlett can’t help but try to untangle the web of lies and mystery. Soon she finds herself in a race to uncover the murderer before she ends up being the next victim. Murder - unlike her job - is not temporary.

First in a clever and fun new cozy mystery series.

Cozy Mystery

I won this audiobook in a giveaway so thank you to the author. I liked this cozy mystery and the characters for the most part. I suspected who dunnit before the reveal but really it could have been any number of people.
I thought the narrator did a good job and enhanced the story.
My only complaint is that I dislike cliffhangers and one element of this story is definitely that. I don't know if it will be resolved before the end of the series.
There was a little romance along with the mystery but that didn't resolve well either leaving me wondering if that relationship picks up again in the next book or if that was it. As I said, I dislike cliffhangers. But I would be happy to continue on with the series to learn all in the end.

A great new Cozy Mystery!

Death Behind the Dumpster is a debut cozy mystery with likable, interesting characters and an intriguing cozy mystery. The audiobook is narrated by Amber Battaglia and is extremely well done and her voice is perfect for Scarlett. Scarlett lost her dream job in Interior Design and has moved back into an apartment at her parent's house. She can only find a temp job answering phones for a doctor's office. Her best friend Cass works in the same buildjng. There are some interesting people she meets in the building which keeps the story interesting. Willow Dawn and her goat are a nuisance and not well liked and Willow Dawn ends up dead. Scarlett and her new friend Austin work together to solve the case. Very enjoyable ebook and audio book! #DeafhBehindTheDumpster

Great book, a Must Read

You have an interesting storyline that goes off in different directions with believable and likable complex characters that feel real. As in books you have enjoyed, it has many twists and turns that keep the suspense of the book interesting. All loose ends are tied up as you get to see the flaws of the killers at the end of the book. The way it was written kept you wanting to read more and not put it down. I never guessed how the plot would end. I am looking forward to the next book.

Outstanding Cozy

Death Behind the Dumpster is A Temp Job Cozy Mystery Book 1 by K B Blake. I thought that this cozy was excellent with good characters and an interesting mystery. I felt that the narration was perfect, with Amber Battaglia bringing the story to life. Scarlet Chase was fired from her dream job and was now working temp. Who knew that a temp job would lead to a murder with a side of a goat named Pudding. I felt that the beginning book of this series was outstanding and should be on every lover of enjoyable cozies reading list. I can't wait to see what Scarlet does next!

Exciting from beginning to end

I binge listened to this in a day because I couldn't turn it off. It was amazing! The characters are a lot of fun - with the perfect balance of daring and caution. The mystery is well-written and kept me guessing until the end. There are even hints of romance, nothing serious and it is a clean mystery, that I also enjoyed. Something that won't matter to all, but that I found fun, is that it's set in my hometown. It's the first cozy that I know of that's set in Salt Lake City, and even though there weren't any set landmarks I still found it fun. As far as the audio goes, the narrator is very pleasant to listen to and reads in a clear, smooth pace. She does a great job of changing her voice just enough so you know who's speaking and it helps build pictures of the characters in your mind. I loved everything about it and I'm diving into book 2 as soon as I finish this review.

I had the opportunity to listen to this cozy mystery by new to me author, K.B. Blake.

This was not my usual read but I was pleasantly surprised and I would recommend this book to anyone out there looking for a clean, no sex, no profanity, all grown up Nancy Drew type read.

Amber Battaglia narrates this book and as always does an amazing job voicing so many characters!

I would definitely listen to the next book in the series just so I can find out what happens to her father!

Great cozy mystery

Death Behind the Dumpster is the first in the Temp Job cozy mystery series by KB Blake. Scarlett Chase is fired from her interior design job and her career and life are in tatters. Since she was black-listed, Scarlett started at an agency to take temp jobs until she can figure out her next steps. The first day as the temp at a vacationing doctor’s office, she discovers the dead body of another office building tenant. The new-age healer who annoys everyone with her goat and hamsters, is found dead behind the dumpster. Scarlett teams up with Austin, a construction worker in the building, to solve the crime. I enjoyed the book very much and there is enough life challenges for Scarlett that there will additional adventures. The narration by Amber Battaglia was great. Her performance brought the characters and story to life. I received a free audiobook code for my honest review.

Love love love

What a great new series! This cozy mystery is one of the best I've read in a long time. The author really knows how to write. I am so tired of these "cozy mysteries" that are garbage and written like a middle school book report. Thank you K.B. for writing a book with substance that is engaging and without typos! Not only did I listen to this book, I also read it on my Kindle. That's how much I liked it.
