Publisher's summary

You can’t escape the past. When newly elected Sheriff Robert Yates investigates the death of a mine manager found in the ditch by two young Vietnam vets, Yates has no idea what’s brewing under the surface in his quiet, picturesque town. Along with his two deputies, Bonnie James and Peter Thomas, Yates is lead to an abandoned cabin where he finds the body parts of a second victim and clues that open questions pertaining to a stash of lost heist money dating back to the early 1900s. After a third murder of a mine employee, suspicion starts to mount towards the mine owner, John Thomas, Peter’s father, and the revelation of a connection to the Romano crime family.

In this debut novel, entitled Six Bullets, set in the fictional town of Lancaster Falls, Tennessee, Sheriff Robert Yates, Deputy Bonnie James, and Deputy Peter Thomas must thwart the advances of Charlie Rhodes, John Thomas, Romano crime family hit man Cornelius Bennet, and the femme fatale Shawna Ray.

Intriguing and Intense

This is an intense and interesting story. I really enjoyed getting into the mystery and following along while figuring out what was going on. The narration helped bring the story to life.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Guns, girls and gangsters! Oh my!

Really well done first effort from this diamond ins diamond in the rough author and narrator. It's always a pleasure when the author reads their own work. The story is well done and imaginative. The dialogue is also well done and does not sound fake or forced like so many others. The story takes place in east Tennessee when a newly elected sheriff discovers his town isn't so nice. I won't do any spoilers, so needless to say I am looking forward to the 2nd part of the story and enjoyed the author's work.

Sheriff Investigates Murder in Local Mines

The book is about a sheriff, who attempts to solve murders that have occurred near or in the local mines. While attempting to solve these murders, the sheriff and his staff must overcome obstacles presented by the mine owners and other members of the community. During the course of his investigation, he learns that the murders are related to a treasure hunt. Though the premise was good, and I intend to read the second book (this book does not quite have an ending), the author's writing style was basic at best. Much of the dialogue was unnecessary. The reader could have imagined the story without the significant extra dialogue.

cops drugs and gangsters

A hard book to rate.
A good storyline, kind of simple but gripping at the same time.
I enjoyed it and look forward to more from Mark Colt.
