The Fort

By: Gordon Korman

Narrated by: Christopher Carley, Michael Crouch, Ramón de Ocampo, Tom Picasso, Mark Sanderlin, Nick Walther

The morning after Hurricane Leo rips through their town, Evan, Jason, Mitchell, and C.J. find a total mess outside, with downed branches and uprooted trees everywhere. They know they should stay indoors—but they want to go exploring, even if it means having a new kid, Ricky, tag along.

Ricky’s the first one to discover a strange trapdoor in the middle of the woods—the door to an old bomb shelter, unearthed by the hurricane. Inside, the boys find a completely intact underground lair, with electricity, food, and even a TV. The boys vow to keep the place a secret. It’s theirs now.

But some secrets are hard to keep … especially when adults and older kids are closing in. And what started out as a fun place to escape soon becomes a serious refuge for one of the boys, who is trying to avoid his abusive stepfather. The Fort has become the safest place they have—will they be able to protect it?©2022 Gordon Korman (P)2022 Recorded Books

My 2nd favorite book

I love this book, if you have not read/listened to this book yet, i just wanted to clarify the main charter is CJ and not Evan, anyway i love this book sooooo much!!! there is mystery and a small touch of violence, and it does have a kid with OCD in it, just a heads up because it might make you feel bad if it has misinformation, back to the book i love how long the book is, and low cost for what it is. i reccamend this book to 8+ just because of the violence. if your wondering what my favorite book is it is Resart another great book from my favorite author Gordan Korman!!!! :) read/listen now!!! you won't regret it.

#100 is the Best of Korman

I love MG mysteries with families and I couldn't wait to read THE FORT. I guessed it was an adventure. As usual Gordon Korman's characters and plot surprised me with its unpredictably. He is adept at multiple POV voices. All the characters are relatable and they develop slowly as conflicts build in this imaginative, contemporary story of 5 boys who find a secret hideaway in the woods near their homes. Each boy (+ 1 girlfriend) has issues with family that readers of all ages can understand and grow to like.

Very enjoyable listen.

A lot of characters but not overwhelming. Easy to keep up with and really fun to listen to. Highly recommend.
