Publisher's Summary

Hunting ghosts and solving the case before checkout? All in a weekend's work.

Listen to the novel that New York Times best-selling author Chris Grabenstein calls, "My kind of mystery!"

When JJ Jacobson convinced his mom to accept a surprise invitation to an all-expenses-paid weekend getaway at the illustrious Barclay Hotel, he never imagined that he'd find himself in the midst of a murder mystery. He thought he was in for a run-of-the-mill weekend ghost hunting at the most haunted spot in town, but when he arrives at the Barclay Hotel and his mother is blamed for the hotel owner's death, he realizes his weekend is going to be anything but ordinary.

Now, with the help of his new friends, Penny and Emma, JJ has to track down a killer, clear his mother's name, and maybe even meet a ghost or two along the way.

A Cozy Ghost Mystery for Kids!

This story is full of action and fun. The narrator did an excellent job and the author wrote an enjoyable whodunit.
What could be more enjoyable for a boy interested in ghost hunting to have a trip to a real haunted hotel? And what about the girl who wants to be a detective, just like her retired grandfather?

If you have a middle grader interested in ghost hunting and/or mysteries, this will be a great choice.

Great story for all ages

Our family enjoyed this story together. It has such diverse characters and it was so well written that my 8 year old was able to make educated guesses with the clues given throughout the story. (Don’t want to give anything away!) Fun read. Didn’t want to stop.
