Publisher's summary

High above Daros, 16-year-old Brecca Vereen prepares to unload a cargo of trade goods aboard her father's ship, The Envy's Price. Nellen Vereen shows her a mysterious artifact bound for a contact below, one that will earn them a lot of credits, and one that they definitely won't be declaring to customs.

Materializing out of nowhere, alien invaders fire upon all ships, destroy the jump gate, and knock out communications. The Envy's Price is crippled, and as her father tries to guide it down from orbit, Brecca rescues the illicit artifact and jettisons in a life pod to an uncertain fate below.

On the flagship of the invading fleet, Navigator Frim tries to persist within the cruel autocracy of the Zeelin Hegemony, under constant threat of death, but wishing for something better. And then she notices a whisper of radiation above Daros - the trail of a cloaked Vonar ship. What are they doing in the midst of all this? And will the captain kill her just for revealing this disagreeable news?

A fun and clever space romp!

I really enjoyed the vividly constructed world in this story. The plot and characters were both engaging and the narration was great. I’ll be on the lookout for more from the author!

Great World Building

Daros is the planet upon which our story takes shape. Brecca and her father in the starship Envy's Price, get caught up in a conflict of several competing species, all after the same prize. With the stakes being the survival of millions of civilizations, things get ugly quickly. The story develops at a fast pace, and all the various characters (and their cultures) are presented with their own points of view. Very well written and narrated, with a satisfying ending. Highly recommended. I got mine from Audiobooks Unleashed.

Simply Amazing

First off I have to thank Dave Dobson for providing me with a copy of Daros for review.

Daros is a fun sci-fi space opera with a bit of a modern pop culture twist. I thought the story was fast-paced, entertaining and more often than not it had me flat out laughing out loud . Daros is an easy read that is sure to make you laugh with some of its great one liners. Also how can you not like a book with chapter titles like "A Game of Drones", "Everything Happens for a Treason", "Busta Slimes" and "There’s No Place Like Foam"

Now onto a serious note.... Why are you still reading this review you should be off reading Daros already :)

I really enjoyed the story

I usually listen to non fiction, so it took a minute to get used to the narrator do all of the voices. Just a couple short chapters in, I was hooked. Jennifer Pratt did a great job bringing Dave’s characters to life. I liked the humor and character development. Like many others, I got a kick out of his chapter titles. I hope he turns this into another series. I look forward to more of Dave’s books. I keep waking up humming “Hooked on a Zeelin.”

Great story line told in an engaging way.

Some intriguing characters find war and peace in the cosmos. A story well told for both the heroes and the villains. Lots of unusual characters in a lively and creative story with plenty of twisting plots.

A trade mission turns into a wildly adventure

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrated by Jennifer Pratt, Daros is a wildly intense adventure beautifully filled complex aliens and their unique yet confounding cultures. Traveling to Daros, the crew of Envy's Price was suppose to be an easy trade mission; along with a special "item" that could bring them crew much needing credits to survive. When powerful alien ships invade the world, Brecca's father commands her to escape to Daros as he fights to get their ship safety to the ground. It's not exactly safety that discovers landing on the planet... a harrowing encounter with desperate miners, only to be saved a strange alien creature that gifts Brecca with his interesting ship with its memorable, excruciating annoying AI, that become a much needed safety line as Brecca is forced to navigate conflicting, survival agendas- just hoping to find her father and the missing crew. Poignant and wondrously creative journey, highly recommended

Great Sci-Fi Story

I enjoyed this story by Dave Dobson. The protagonist was a sixteen-year-old girl named Brecca. Once Brecca landed on the planet, she needed to find her way through all the dangers of a planet at war. The story was fun and exciting. The characters were quirky and memorable. I hope that the author has more planned for these characters. I recommend this book to others who enjoy this genre. Jennifer Pratt's narration was great and entertaining. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.
