When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to help Count Dracula with the purchase of a house in London, he soon discovers some strange and shocking things about his new client. And then some strange things start happening back in England: an apparently unmanned ship is wrecked off the coast of Whitby, a young woman discovers strange puncture marks on her neck and the inmate of a lunatic asylum raves about the 'Master' and his imminent arrival.

First published in 1897, Dracula is an epistolary novel, meaning that the narrative is related through letters, diary entries and newspaper articles. The story is brought to life in this Audible production by a group of actors that you might recognise from TV and film: Himesh Patel (Yesterday), Patricia Allison (Sex Education), Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People), Theo James (Divergent series) and Jason Watkins (The Crown).

To say that this novel is better than any of the many Dracula movies I’ve seen all the way back to the black & white original us an understatement.

Bram Stokers novel is a timeless classic tale of love, friendship, the paranormal & of course, horror.

The narration was good. The characters well developed. Nothing was sensationalized or exaggerated. The book is so good it has launched hundreds of vampire movies & series. It has stood the test of time.

I loved every minute of this audiobook. You probably will too.

BETTER THAN THE MOVIES!

This is one of my favorite books of all time. I struggled through it over months in high school when I first discovered gothic horror novels. I adored the book despite dyslexia making reading it difficult. This audiobook and cast bring the story to life in a way I couldn’t have imagined. The voice acting is the best I’ve ever heard on audiobook. This classic truly stands the test of time.

Completely Captivating

This was the second book I listened to on audible. The problem is that my expectations are now exceedingly high because of the incredible production quality! Superb voice acting.
The book is of course a classic. It can be a slog at times, and a modern editor would probably have had Stoker trim it down. But it holds up remarkably to a modern ear, and is well worth the effort of pulling through.

A truly amazing experience
