Ophelia and Thorn arrive at the observatory of the Deviations, an institute shrouded in absolute secrecy and overseen by a sect of mystical scientists who secretly conduct terrifying experiments. There, they hope to discover truths that will halt the destruction and death and bring the world back into balance.

Now that the distrust between them has been overcome, they love each other passionately. However, they must keep their love hidden. Only in this way can they continue their journey toward an understanding of the indecipherable code of God and the truth behind the mysterious figure of the Other, whose devastating power continues to bring down entire pieces of arks, plunging thousands of innocents into the void.

Disappointed in ending. I don’t like tragedies apparently. I have the feeling of unfinished business. Well written, fascinating imagination. But still, disappointing.

Intricate.

Awkward translation, convoluted story made me lose the mood to finish the series. Had high hopes for it, but other books beckon.

Couldn’t finish it

The last book felt too forced and the pace dragged. I was really disappointed.

She got lost

I really enjoyed the series. I will admit that the fourth ended with you thinking there could be more. I think so much was tied together.

Good series

Steam punk, magic, science, biblical entanglement, love, loss, political dealings, courtier life, mystery, truth, and evils. These books have it all. You fall in love with Thorn for who he is, you watch Ophelia grow, literally. The story is so vivid and so well read that you are truly there, in The Pole, Clair de Lune, Babel. Such beautifully described places that you're truly enchanted the entire time. The characters charm you, no matter what their role is. Every character makes you want more of them and you cherish every moment with each. It feels as though the author set out to make sure each character had a special place in your heart. The deep and intense feelings that are invoked by this story are truly timeless human fears, loves, and actions. I cannot recommend this book enough. I will be rereading this series for the rest of my life.

The Best Series I Have Ever Read.
