A glitzy wedding in romantic Venice, but is there a murderer on the guest list?

Venice, 1923.

Posie Parker, now London’s premier female Private Detective, is getting married, and with her wedding dress carefully packed, she’s bubbling over with excitement to arrive in Venice, the most romantic city on earth!

But very quickly Posie finds she is walking into an utter nightmare: her lodgings on the Grand Canal have been consumed by fire; the fascist police are in control of the city; her famous fiancé, Alaric Boynton-Dale is moody and preoccupied, and most bizarrely of all, her hostess, the Countess Romagnoli, confesses she has a stalker and fears for her life.

Suddenly tasked with protecting the Countess Romagnoli, Posie investigates the other house guests and finds that there are disguises everywhere. No one is whom they claim to be.

When a terrible murder is committed, and with the prospect of the killer striking yet again, Posie realizes she must separate out the shadows of the past and the realities of the present in order to uncover the murderer before it is too late. In her most dangerous case yet, Posie works alongside both familiar and new colleagues in order to get at the truth.

But will the truth come at a terrible price?

A twisty and glamorous murder mystery packed with clues and red herrings, all set against a gorgeous backdrop. Sure to charm those who love Agatha Christie, Downton Abbey, and T.E. Kinsey.

You really need to pay attention because the ending isn't something you can determine easily if at all. Narration is top notch and I am enjoying the series.

Many twists and turns

“Murder in Venice” is the best book of Hathaway’s series to date but I question referring to it as a cosy. Usually cosies do not rely upon the level of tension that is the backbone of this book. Additionally, cosies generally put a bow on the story at the end so that the reader is looking forward to further adventures but not left hanging. Hathaway has done a terrific job hiding almost everything in plain sight. I only wish the next book in the series was ready now.

Gripping Cosy
