The border town of Forest Mist resides in the Great Piney Woods and is famous throughout the Alliance for its lumber and rare hardwoods. In need of building materials for their new ranch home, Bishop and Terri travel east. It is the couple’s anniversary, and both feel the need for a change of scenery.

As they cross Texas, they discover a dark confrontation simmering just under the surface of Alliance society. Instead of a relaxing journey through the heart of the Lone Star Nation, Bishop and Terri are thrust into a local conflict that threatens to divide Forest Mist and the Alliance as a whole. It is a test not only of their survival skills, but their values, morals, and love of freedom.

to listen to this story was torture. the narrator sounded like he was in a bathroom. and what is width a Southern drawl for all the characters. the only reason I bought this audiobook is because I didn't want a hole in my collection.

I'm glad it's over

poor equipment used by the narrator and it sounded like he read the book in the bathroom but Great Story love the series

Bad Narrator

The book content and action moves along nicely . My complaint is the Narrator and his equipment at times it sounded as if he was in an echo chamber other times he sounded flat and tone less . If this had been the first book I would not have gotten through it.

Narration Is Awful

Same old surviving the impossible, poor reading. Mispronunciations and poor voice inflections, dont think I could listen to another

typical Bishop story

The story was great as usual, but the narrator was horrible. You finally had someone good to read the last few books then you switched to this idiot who has substandard equipment. I want my money back because I had to listen to him for 12+ hours.

Stop changing narrators!!!
