Excellent sequel

Overall an excellent sequel. All the elements that made the first book good are back and Mike's writing is improved as well (as it should be).

My only complaint is that it feels too short. The journey to Ithaca is chronicled too little. There was little character growth of Annabelle (who, as a teenager needs character growth) or of the junior engineer she convinces to comes along. While there's an excellent amount of exposition of the the new XO and he's a very well developed character, I wish more had been spent on the two aforementioned characters as well.

Basically, it felt like this novel had material chopped out. There were parts where content felt like it was missing. This novel probably would have been just right at the same length as Her Brother's Keeper (where all the protagonists got the proper amount of attention to development, including the side characters like Cecil's friend), but instead it's 3 hours shorter.

Looking forward to the next novel. The flaws in this one aren't that great and it definitely deserves to be bought and listened to (or read).

Great Sequel

Mike Kupari has outdone himself. The new characters were a great addition to the story. They helped develop the already great cast of lovable rogues and privateer sailors. The story was different enough from Her Brothers Keeper to feel fresh, but familiar in the best ways. I look forward to the next book in the series

Awesome

Reminds me of the space stories from my childhood. I grew up reading Asimov, Heinlein, and this reminds my of them. Loved it.

Even better than the first one.

This story had better character development and a few surprising twists, while still being true to the "good guys vs. Bad guys" overall theme of the series. I enjoyed it.
