Justin Miller jacked-up the plot in book 2 where World Seed moved from beta limited players and non-existential avatar death to worldwide Seed installations and players and people faced real death from monsters and other players. The MC still hasn't entered into any personal relationships, he has picked up what appears to be a platonic relationship with his female AI and his voluptuous evolved companions. There is still way too much cultivation grinding and his stats bloat is beginning to get annoying to fast-forward over. Also, there is too much "tell" versus "show" which often comes off a bit didactic in style and less interesting.

On the positive side, the story moved to a more interesting direction with the player-killer section being especially exciting to listen to and the tragic event with the 6yr old girl being the most poignant.

Neil Hellegers' performance is still a real plus to the storytelling of the series.

Much improved addition to series
