Great an unique fantasy!

DL Jennings does an amazing job creating a unique world that is his alone. The plot isn’t predictable and full of great characters and races. Can’t wait for book three!

World building

There is alot for a fantasy lover to enjoy. The world building is deep without being overly complex. There is a good depth of characters without feeling like you need to grab a pen and paper to remember them all. This is a very good series to introduce people to fantasy, as it scratches alot of those itches with out some of the bog down that you can get from the Jordans and Tolkeins. Well done i look forward to book 3.

captivating story kept me on the edge of my seat

I really enjoyed this audiobook. great story, fantastic battles, I'm really enjoying the character development and the different races. I highly recommend it.

Great for all fantasy lovers

This is the second book in the Highglade series, and I have not read the first one so I was not sure how this was going to go. I can honestly say that this book can be read as a stand-alone. I did not feel like I was missing information. I was able to read and enjoy this book as a whole.

This book is fast-paced and I was pulled into the story quickly. Once I started this book I did not want to put it down. This is more of a military fantasy which is something I do not read much but it was written in such a way that I loved it.

This book is perfect for any lovers of fantasy!

Couldn’t put it down!

This sequel to “Gift of the Shaper” starts off running & hooked me immediately with 2 new characters who soon became my favorites. “Awaken” could be read as a stand-alone but there is much good background info in the first book. The narrator is outstanding & superb in bringing the characters to life. I also got the e-book which is a bonus since it includes maps & a glossary but that’s just additional icing on a delicious cake. The story is well written & kept me tuned in for 7 consecutive hours while I finished it. I heartily recommend this book in the spirit of Tolkien, & eagerly await the conclusion of the trilogy..

A Unique and Intriguing World

This second book of the Highglade Series continues the story of fascinating inhabitants with unusual capabilities.The various elements of the story move along briskly to an exciting finish aided by the excellent narration of David Lane Pusey who gives eloquent voice to the characters. Fans of the first book will not be disappointed; this one is even better IMHO. SciFi is not my favorite genre, but D. L. Jennings has created a credible mix of new cultures and characters that kept me entertained and eager to read more.

Great Book!

DL Jennings is nothing short of an exceptional author. I look forward to the sequels to come and to reading his future work. I highly recommend this author.
