Publisher's Summary
The eighth installment of the hit series The Beginning After the End has arrived! Join the hundreds of thousands of fans who have fallen in love with TurtleMe's reincarnation epic fantasy and main character Arthur Leywin, voiced by the talented Travis Baldree.
I had to accept that I wasn’t just Arthur Leywin anymore, and that I could no longer be limited by the circumstances of my birth. If I was going to escape, if I was going to go toe-to-toe with the most powerful beings in this world, I needed to push myself to my utmost limit...and then I needed to push even further.
After nearly dying as a victim of his own strength, Arthur Leywin wakes to find himself far from the continent where he was born for the second time. Alone, broken, and with no way to tell his family he’s alive, Arthur must rebuild his strength to survive. As he ascends through an ancient dungeon filled with hostile beasts and devious trials, he discovers an ancient, absolute power - a power that will either ruin him or take him to new heights. But the dungeon won’t give up its knowledge easily. Before he can plunder its depths, Arthur must learn to untangle the threads of fate. He must band together with the unlikeliest of allies if he hopes to escape with his life.

24 hours of What the heck is going on?
Ok, I have never written a review like this before but I felt compelled to.
first off I LOVE the first 7 books, even with the cliff hanger of book 7's ending
but this book, ahh I tried so hard to find something in it to like, but I just feel
that I have wasted 24.18 ours of my life, after getting so into following Arthur Leywin life and times
his losses and triumphs then this.....
Book 8 to me was a let down, it felt like one of the books were they say SURPRISE EVER THING WAS A DREAM!
haha got you...
the fights were drawn WAAAYYYY out, so much that I had to keep skipping 3 to 10 minutes just to get so something
that made sense, and it never did.
the first 7 books were such a build up and I am sorry, this one, for ME at least was a let down.
I kind of see what the author is doing but IMO it's not as much a gear change as it is a backing off a cliff and starting over
I see he is trying to build sympathy in Arthur , or at least that is what I think May be going on.
I understand or Think he may be trying to get Arthur the "powers" he needs to win but...
7 books of build up then Smash it all and start over?!
sorry I had to force myself to finish the book, and by the time I was done I just felt let down and more confused than anything.
AND THEN IT'S A CLIFF HANGER AGAIN!...
don't know if I will buy book 9 or not IF there is going to be one.
I know not everyone will be as disappointed as I am, and some may just love the shift, but I for one did not.
Just my 2 cents.

It's like they started over
The beginning of this book was just really slow in my opinion. The book spends a lot of it's time explaining a new world but slower. I think a bunch of information could have been given in the last few books honestly.
However my biggest problem is that all of our loved characters really took the back seat on this one. Auther feels less intelligent in this. His powers are op, but at the same time nerfed every now and then. They really started over with Auther and I mean big time.
I liked some of the characters like the two new companions Auther travels with, and Ellie.
Everybody else is barley mentioned. like they don't think or say much in this book. when I mean back seat I really meant the trunk of the car it's that bad.
i thought they took their time but this did not feel like the case. to be truthful.... I'm mad they let this out like this.
Travis is still great though so at least we got him.

I was hoping for more.
This one was difficult for me. I kept waiting for something to to happen? don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it and I love the series. But, I was hoping for so much more, the plot moved very little, after such a big ending of the last book. But ultimately nothing really happens (Except the last few pages). like I have read from another reviewer it was essentially Arthur on a road trip. In my opinion Arthur could have started this book how many weeks later with the powers he ended this book with and fill in the gaps with a couple of chapters explanation and flash backs. I won't go so far as to write this was a filler book, but...

So... what was the last 25 hours supposed to be?
Overall the book has a good story, well written, and helps develop the MC....again
I won’t say anything pointless like, “the book sucks” or “don’t get it” Because if your in book 8 then your already addicted.
The biggest problem is, we spent 7 books already building up Arthur, and now we have to spend 25 hours doing it again, Gives me mixed feelings about this book because the main story didn’t really progress any further. I guess book 9 will be awesome, but book 8 is probably my most disliked book from this entire series. The entire book could be summed up in just a few sentences and we could have then gone on with the main story, but instead we spent 25 hours, watching Arthur having learn all over again.
It was just boring, repetitive and just felt like a filler arc in an anime.

Basically not the continuation that I was looking for
Main character goes on a road trip everything goes terribly wrong, everyone’s in danger, the world coming to an end.
Of course he needs to get stronger to defeat everyone even if that is not the right way to go about things. Again you say ? Yes because being a Quadra elemental was just not good enough for him he had to do something that no one else managed to do because why not !
He has seemingly less intelligence in this book then the ones that come before.
Normal social behavior and intelligence is nonexistent in this book.
And the fact that he’s basically on a vacation trying to get stronger doesn’t seem to bother him.
Everyone wants retribution for something.
I found myself sadder after having finish the story then before listening to it.
I have no idea why the writer decided that this story would be a good one to release during a global pandemic.
Hoping the next one is closer to the first four books which were probably the best.
Apart from that it was still nice to listen to what Arthur has been up to.

What's the point of this book?
I don't want to berate TurtleMe , I've been entertained by all seven of the previous books and have a lot of respect for tm .
I felt This is like a side story that does nothing and goes nowhere and has taken 24 hrs to tell , this could have been told in a third of the time.
Maybe what happens and the characters we meet will eventually pay off or mean something to the overall story in the end.
Tm doesn't write badly and even this side story wasn't awful or boring , just lacked what I've come to expect for this series.
I could say more but im going to leave it at that.
i hope you get more from this book than i did.

Favourite book so far
A great expansion to the tbate world with this novel. The new characters introduced in this novel quickly grew to be my favourite in the series so far. The pacing has definitely slowed but that allows for turtleME to explore the culture of alacria in more detail. Narration on point as always and definitely adds a lot to this book with the different species explored in the tombs.
The book ends with an awful cliffhanger tho. The trade-off for greater world-building and character exploration is the slower pace, IMO its worth it and results in the best book so far.

Epic
Book is awesome, actually can't wait for the next book, this was slow at points but you can't expect a book to be full on all the time. This was a great book, I need more so hurry up please.

24 hours and I sill want more
the story has a good progression and cut off point for people who enjoyed the previous books in the series.
this book did a great job at expanding the world, and the main characters progression, while making it feel like a natural part of the story.
sadly I now have to wait a while before the next book is written, tho I am sure that the author already knows where everything is going.

awesome
always a pleasure to listen to baldre. amazing story. I am lost in the world turtleme has created. I only hope the next book is faster paced purely because I'm impatient to know everything that's happening. lord of the rings is dirt compared to this.

By Far Best Book/Series On Here
Let’s just start off with the story, the story is hands down the best storyline plot whatever you want to call it I have ever read, it is full of action/adventure, drama, character development, romance like what more could you want? Now to talk about the narrator/ person who reads the story. Honestly idk where to start, he is the best narrator I have ever heard, that’s out of 137 books so I think you can trust me, he has the right emotions in the right spots, the Perfect voices for the characters, like HOW CAN YOU DO A GIRLS VOICE SO WELL or how can you do a birds voice so well?!?!?
In conclusion 100/10 best series in history

Loved it!
It was awesome, loved it. This book was more interesting than the last, delved more into world building. Regis was the star of this book, his moments were funny and added a nice contrast to the seriousness of the story.
Narrator did an awesome job too!

The majority is great!!
Really enjoyed Arthurs half of the story, towards the end I ended up skipping chapters that were from Elese perspective as I don’t particularly like her character
