They say every proud man must fall. Mortals who fancy themselves gods will one day kneel.
I thought myself invincible; Apollo on Earth. Mocked my brother when he succumbed to such a fate. Before I noticed the blue-haired nymph lurking in the background.
Cora Astor shouldn’t have come to this island. She sneered in my direction, beguiling me with her disgust.
As a Wolfe, hunting is in my blood. Getting what I want is my nature. Even when I know I can never have it.
Though I cannot keep her, I plan to relish the chase.
Arrows and Apologies is a dark, contemporary romance inspired by the Apollo and Daphne myth. It is not fantasy nor a retelling.

This was the darkest of the series so far. Pure ravishment fantasy, with a side of other dark themes. If you’re someone that’s on the fence about stories with dubious consent, the impact on loved ones of drug addicts, or violent self-harm, you should review the warnings.
All that being said, this was my favorite couple since Cal and Elena. I loved the opposition of their personalities, I loved the possessiveness. I loved how Alastair and Marshall / Cora and Lucian felt like two halves of the same coin at times, but also those were the things that drew the other in. I feel like a single soul was split between Cora and her brother, and how that affects Alastair is remarkable.
The smut was darker, almost in a way that’s “pure fantasy, no real logic” but that’s not the point of the book. The book is to indulge and escape in fantasy every once in a while.
Despite there were some sentences that will stay with me a long time. “I’m rotting from the inside out” was devastating to read. I felt heartbreak in that scene. I was stunned by the depth in this novel. The way certain topics were handled with such respect and understanding balanced out the parts that felt unnatural. The toxic, codependent sibling relationship, growing up poor, having abandonment issues and are avoidant because of it—all that feels real. It’s enough to make up for some plotholes and convenient lapses of character.
There’s also a moment where Cora wakes up and sees Cal, Jonas, and Alastair standing next to each other and thought “did I wake up in heaven” made me chuckle. I can’t wait for the finale of this book series which much feature all of the hot male leads coming together in a pivotal moment, like the “Portals” scene like in Endgame. Every time a new portal opens, the audience gets more aroused.

MAYOR Wolfe has to be tied for my favorite hero of the series. He is ruthless and will protect what’s his. He becomes obsessed with Cora almost immediately and the things he does while not right are what he needed to do to get what he wanted. There is one major twist I guessed earlyish but the book do was so good it didn’t matter. Alistair is a dirty talker 🥵. So if you like alpha holes and steamy smex scenes with a good storyline I recommend this book.
