There's something wrong with Apartment 401....

When newlywed couple Brad and Julia decide to move into their new home, they are ecstatic to start their new lives. They finally have a home of their own. And with a baby on the way, this couldn't have come at a better time. However, just one day in the apartment is enough to tell them that something is very wrong.

Things go missing only to reappear in strange places. Footsteps and whispers echo in the rooms. And, every night, the same song plays from somewhere inside the apartment. The longer Brad and Julia spend in the apartment, the more they learn about the dark secrets that haunt it. No longer able to afford moving to a new place, they have to make a decision - run away from their new home, or face the apparitions that plague it. One thing is for sure, though.

They are not the only inhabitants of Apartment 401.

this was a very good story. at first I was afraid it would be the same old thing of a husband not believing what his wife saw.....boring!!!! But it wasn't! The story was very good with a good surprising twist. I'm glad I kept listening. I would have missed a good one!!
edited.....5/2022 listen to this book again. I enjoyed it again. the only negative thing is the narrator. He reads it weird but the story is good enough I could ignore it.

very good story

I like these kinds of haunts. apartments, hotels, houses, etc. This kept me interested and wanting to keep going when I had to stop. It all came around full circle with a great twist. Worth the buy.

Keeps you guessing and then a twist

This is a compelling story. the narration was a bit herky-jerky but it wasn't un-listenable. I found the writing style quite formal but again, it didn't detract too much from the story itself.

A good story, worth a credit in my opinion

This was a pretty good book had some twists in it but the narrator needed to pause when the scenes changed other than that it was a good book

interesting

I have always been drawn to stories involving haunted locations, so the basic premise of this narrative immediately piqued my interest. However, my excitement waned when it came to the characters. They felt more like placeholders than fully developed individuals, lacking the depth and personality that would make me truly invested in their journeys. The initial chapters provided scant background, which left me feeling indifferent to their fates.

At first, the plot seemed to promise an exhilarating mix of tension and action surrounding the couple at the center of the tale. Yet, that excitement never materialized. Instead, the pacing slowed significantly, dragging along until the final chapters. Only then did we start to uncover the layers of mystery and horror enveloping the apartment.

Something is distinctly amiss in Apartment 401.

When newlyweds Brad and Julia move into their first home together, their hearts brim with joy and anticipation. With a baby on the way, this new chapter in their lives seems perfectly timed. Yet, within just one day of settling in, the couple realizes that their dream home harbors chilling secrets.

Unexplainable occurrences plague their daily life: items vanish only to reappear in bizarre locations, eerie whispers and footsteps echo through the halls, and each night a haunting song reverberates from an unknown source within the apartment. As Brad and Julia spend more time in their new surroundings, the oppressive atmosphere grows heavier, revealing the dark history that lingers within the walls. They find themselves cornered, unable to afford the luxury of relocation, and face a harrowing dilemma: flee from their foreboding home or confront the restless spirits that inhabit it. One thing becomes certain—they are not alone in Apartment 401.

The narration by Christopher Gatterdam was competent, yet it lacked a certain flair that could have enriched the portrayal of the characters. Their voices lacked distinct intonations and unique personalities, which diminished the overall experience. However, the crowning moment for me was undoubtedly the unexpected twist at the end. It completely caught me off guard, delivering a shocking conclusion that I genuinely did not foresee, making the journey worth it despite my earlier reservations.

Children are scarier than anyone

Author needs an editor, a thesaurus and a new narrator.
I feel like my IQ has dropped, suffering through this halting excuse for an audiobook. Never read anything by this author again.

Terrible.

Now, I only listened to one chapter. But t was a struggle. It was sounding like a knockoff of Rosemary baby. it may have gone in a different direction after I closed it out. I wasn't listening to it any more. The narrator's voice was actually distracting! And he sounded like he was rushing to finish the book FROM CHAPTER ONE while speaking in a high monotone.

He's no Morgan Freeman.
