Publisher's summary

Moths that get too close to the light burn their wings. Men and women who become too attached to their partners tear their relationships apart. Your relationship doesn't have to end in heartache like so many others.

Anxious attachment plagues many relationships, and whether we know it or not, it's often the root of many couple's problems. You'll notice that most happy, long-lasting relationships do not cause such traits of neurotic anxious attachment. Instead, they embody trust, boundaries, and a healthy distance that actually pours gasoline on the fire of attraction.

This book, offered in both audio and physical format, will teach you how to foster such a relationship, exploring topics such as:

  • How to recover from being anxiously attached and achieve a secure attachment style.
  • The blueprint to reach intimacy with your partner without being anxiously attached.
  • How to cope with anxious attachments in your current relationship or dating life.
  • Learn different types of attachment styles and how they affect your relationship.
  • Guided meditations and affirmations to help you break free from anxious attachments.
  • And much, much more....

With this guide, you'll learn how to salvage relationships on the edge, and how to form new relationships that are built to last. Relationships that aren't constantly a source of fear, anxiety, and stress. Relationships that you feel secure in, and within which love and attraction grows boundlessly.

Scroll up and buy now if you are ready to destroy anxious attachments and unlock the real secret to healthy relationships today.

So informative!

I really am enjoying this book. I find the descriptions of the various attachments and how it manifests as children and as adults in relationships to be very informative! I’m learning a lot about myself as I read through this book, and I am even understanding family members better as I can identify their attachment style through the descriptions and the explanations of what may have caused the person to have that attachment style. By far, my favorite part of the book are the guided meditations and affirmations to help me recalibrate and hopefully change my attachment style to a secure one. Great book!

Healing Anxious Attachment

This book started off as I like nonfiction to do, with the author relating a bit of her story with anxious attachment. However, that thread was soon dropped, and I wish the author continued to include more of herself throughout the book. The best contemporary nonfiction is born from the author's experience or expertise. However, this book could be genuinely helpful not only for the person with anxious attachment to help them better understand themselves and start to heal but also for the partner of someone with this challenging form of attachment. What a delightful thing for this book to address! After all, when one person in a couple grapples with an issue like this, the problem typically affects both partners. This book helps both individuals heal and learn to relate in new, healthier ways, bringing awareness and tools. The book briefly touches on things like love languages, inner child work, meditation, and affirmations to assist with healing. The author even includes a section of brief meditations and a longer section of affirmations. I wasn't wild about the affirmations because they didn't all necessarily seem to be about anxious attachment or healing from it. Some were far too general, and others were wildly specific in a way that may not be true for all with anxious attachment. For instance, a surprisingly high number of the affirmations were strongly Judeo-Christian. Perfectly fine if that is your religious bent, but not quite appropriate for those who consider themselves more spiritual than religious, agnostic, or atheistic. However, this book does include much food for thought and a few starting steps on the pathway for healing from anxious attachment for both the person with it and their partner.

Great book to listen

I never thought about how my past interfere with how I interact with my partner today. This book helped me understand myself and my partner and guide me to have a better and healthier relationship. I read this book, but sometimes is good to listen it too.

Primary at Best

i have never left a review that wasn’t a hit; this is my first rather derogatory one.

in the light of transparent authenticity, and pushing a personal envelope; I i had to truly push myself through this book; I think I restarted it 6 times in all.

it is a true cursory of information on a topic that offers little, if indeed any, actual science.

As I had to force my self to stay tuned to its rather characterized narration that itself truly edged my continued interest.

I found the information to be rather stoic and boxed. Examples of each were expressed with oppressive and often with calamity defining edges that allowed little fluidity for the human Spirit, individuality or actual the truth that everyone who has the exact same, let alone varied, experience will perceive and respond to it with a completely different perspective and out come.

I personally have been observing people since an infancy—- now aged 63… and Yes I do remember that far back and further.. but I will leave that for my own writings..

However, the importance of such truth is that I have been observing and experiencing social dysfunction on all levels with all age groups in a multitude of venues, all with another multitude of variables - personal perceptions of the same exact event - never mind experiences that are varied in even the slightest way.. all for more than half a century. I am also well educated, well read and was truly bored with this read. When I started to ague allowed was the the reader, I simply laughed and thought- yet another variance.

That stated, I found that bonding is a complex and fluid experience over an extended period of time and is not at all captured within a segment of time by and of it self. The human spirit is fluid and that weighs heavily upon far too many individualized variables to give full credence to the theories presented as they were along with cataclysmic outcomes that made me want to argue further.

I will fairly state that, I may have had better experience with a hard copy, but I still would have passed it with out presentation of actual long term blind study science to back it all up.

I gave it a 3 stars because, while it is not much more than a curt description of a segmented part of full social development … certainly not all… of a particular population of characterized persons with such few, albeit quite boxed, descriptive behaviors with equally drone responsive out comes, it might well be of general assistance to one who is just scratching the surface of their own self examination.I also caution the reader that shadow work is not a simple processes of connecting ting to you inner child’s feelings and all is well… It can be extremely debilitating and needs a solid support structure to assist the individual with unknowns

it is far from actual valued benefit to the student or complex thinker. And In another note… I do like the author… just not the book!.

Insightful

While the book is written for those with an anxious attachment I found the first part of the book on how anxious and healthy attachments are formed especially useful for parenting young children so they develop a healthy attachment style as attachment styles are formed in childhood.

I found the guided meditations and affirmations especially useful for those seeking to change their unhelpful behaviors.

a swing and a miss

in my view. it feels like an AI generated publication. Over and over, the same psychobabble that one could get in a new age fortune cookie. I will disclose I knew my attachment style before going in, but isnt that why I chose the book? it was all smoke and mirrors, butterflies and rainbows. maybe 10% (and I'm being generous here) was substantive. it left me wondering about the refund policy....

Great Learning Guide

Linda Hill has done a great job of providing a general overview of the various attachment styles and explaining how they may manifest. The narration was easy to listen too. The only thing that would make the experience better for Audible is an accompanying PDF workbook. It would be nice to have handouts or a reference guide for those not working in mental health professions. But, overall a great book to use with clients.
