Publisher's Summary

Alibi Island is a legendary paradise hidden away deep in international waters. The only law is money. Sex, drugs, murder. You’ve got to pay to play, but it’s all fair game if you’re rich enough.

On Alibi Island, the rich and famous are kings. Back in America they’re just rich - they’re surrounded by the cult of celebrity their wealth brings, but they can never be themselves. They can never indulge in their darkest desires and let the beast that is their true nature out.

The place is legendary. Few ever get the black and gold card inviting them to indulge, and fewer still can afford the stay. But there is a dark side to paradise. The island is the hub of a human trafficking operation that sees children stolen from their families in India and Asia, and even familiar faces from milk cartons in the United States. Every taste and perversion needs to be catered to on the Island. And when the young sex slaves are finally broken and used up, they become fair game in a murderous hunt where, with nowhere to go, they are forced to run for their lives.

Alibi Island is a lucrative business. What happens on the island stays on the island. That’s the promise. But it is a lie. Everything that happens is recorded. All of that footage becomes blackmail material down the line, as the island's secret power brokers look to cement their stranglehold on power. And when a senator’s daughter’s disappearance is linked to the island, all of its darkest secrets are at risk....

Not my cup of tea

Violent sexual assaults on young girls in graphic detail is not entertaining. I would not recommend this.

Audio Book of The Year!!!

This is hands down the best audio book I have ever listened to! The author and narrator did an amazing job! I can't wait for part 2 and look forward to hearing more books from SLMN.

The story had so much potential

I really enjoyed the beginning of the book. The author presented an interesting location and complex characters but I had the feeling that they were not explored well. It felt flat and rushed after the middle point of the book.

Gave me the creeps

Well written and performed. There were a few edits hard to follow and a few questions unanswered. Creepy to think something like this could happen. Human trafficking at its worst!

Wonderfully Twisted!!!

I couldn't stop listening...a tale so absolutely twisted I wondered if the author needed psychiatric assistance - like WTF!
The narrator was great. Though some of her accents gave me Rosie Perez vibes.

Not too Graphic

Read reviews before listening, and the entire time I kept waiting for the part that would be too much. It was well narrated and well written. I like dark books with pretty realistic content. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try, especially if you have a premium membership and it's included so you don't have to spend a credit on it. I actually think this would make a good movie.

Not a bad thriller, not great either

I bought this largely on the basis of its subject; apart from Dan Brown, there are suspiciously few Illuminati thrillers, almost as if…

Anyway, the plot is loosely based on Jeffrey Epstein’s sex and blackmail operation, with one-dimensional superwoman, the bondesque bondess Passion Valdez, battling sex trafficking, slavery and the patriarchy. The plot’s not bad, albeit a little cliched, the sort of thing you’ve read or watched in many other thrillers. I do applaud the author, ‘SLMN’ however for even attempting to dramatize the story, which he does with some success.

There are a manageable number of flat, cut-out characters, including Passion, a few generic trafficked victim girls complete with kidnap back stories, and various heavy henchmen. There are also several somewhat interesting although stereotypical characters: Huey Rawlston, the corrupt and depraved politician, Laney, his superficial teenage daughter, and wicked witch Rosa, narrated with gumption by the excellent Mishi Chappelle.

Alibi Island successfully manages to convey evil without descending into gratuitous porn, although there is plenty of violence. The plot mostly concentrates on the island itself, with only hints of the larger blackmail operation. Although ultimately predictable, there are plenty of exciting twists to keep you listening.
