Publisher's Summary

Hood rat: a woman of questionable repute, one who has been known to "get around" in the 'hood.

Yoshi is young, fine, and larcenous. She lives her life playing on men's hearts as well as their pockets. But she learns the hard way that all that glitters isn't gold.

Billy, a former high school basketball star, is at the end of her rope with the opposite sex. To her, all men are dogs, so she secretly seeks comfort in the arms of women - until she meets a man who makes her reevaluate her feelings.

Reese is an around-the-way chick trying to keep up with the Joneses. There's a revolving door on her bedroom as she searches for the love she always felt was missing. When her promiscuity leaves her pregnant after a one-night stand, Reese is faced with the task of breaking an age-old cycle passed down from mother to daughter in her family and standing on her own.

Rhonda is 20-something with three kids from three different men, and she's riding the system all the way to the bank. To her, work is a dirty word; between the multiple checks she gets from the government and the games she plays with men, she's living the life of a ghetto superstar. But the game soon turns ugly when one of her "sponsors" decides to get some payback.

Harlem has never seen four friends as scandalous as these. The neighborhood will never be the same again.

Don't waste your money

I can't decide whether it was the similar sounding names or the shallow and unfinished personalities of the characters or the long drawn out slow sometimes boring and confusing story or maybe the dialogue that was mostly cursing or the way the characters professed their undying love for each other after a few days. Worst money I ever spend. The ending was terrible. Idk if this author wrote this to finish up a book deal but it wasn't with an hour of my life. The performer was great but there were weird pauses in his narration where there should not have been but it didn't happen often

The author is definitely color struck

The book is a pretty good hood story . However , you can tell that by the descriptions of the women ,who are described as “the prettiest “, that the author is color-struck .

Hmmm...

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this book. There were several times in the first six hours of the listening that I just wanted to delete it from my library. I was going to chalk it up as being a book that just was not for me. I really struggled to continue listening. It seemed really difficult to keep up with the characters. I'm not sure if that was because of the narrator or because of how the book was written. I managed to complete the book but I will never listen to it again. I have had much better reads from both K'wan and Cary Hite. This one just seemed to miss the mark for me.

Loooved this book!

I wish I knew before hand there were more to this series and I would have started from the beginning. Nevertheless, I will be starting from the beginning. The narrator, Cary Hite, is awesome! Thank you K'wan for this series. It definitely made me laugh and it has its sad moments too.

FREAKIN LOVED IT

I was enveloped in the whole story. I felt like I personally knew the characters as I learned to despise or relate to them. The major twist was unbelievable. Wow! Great story bro! I look forward to reading more of Kwan's work

I really enjoyed this!

I swear Cary Hite really brings these books to life!!! He is such an awesome narrator. This is my eighth audio book by K'wan that I've purchased this year and I truly enjoy his story telling.
