Derek Murphy has come to the godforsaken small town of Merritt, British Columbia, in search of a new beginning. The man is tired, jaded, and resigned to never having sex again. Until Friday night at the local sports bar changes everything.

Harold Graham, hometown boy made good, has lived in Merritt his entire life. When he meets the new guy in town, he’s compelled to reach out the hand of friendship. And maybe more.

But secrets and omissions cloud what could be the beginning of something special. Can they take a chance on being vulnerable enough to fall in love?

"Ace’s Place" is a 13,000-word short story about second chances, hockey, and an adorable but nosy Bouvier.

With Gabbi Grey’s signature insta-love and low-angst, ‘Ace’s Place’ tells the story of Derek and Harold finding love with each other in small-town British Columbia, Canada. For such a short story, Grey includes many nice elements–a circle of likable friends, Sunday hockey league games, and an adorable dog named Ben are just a few. I do think the story could be expanded upon given the prologue feel throughout, save for the epilogue. Overall, the story is sweet and left me with a smile on my face.

The narration by Michael Dean is, as always, excellent.

An ARC of this audiobook was provided to me at my request. My review is voluntarily given.

This is only the second story I've listened to by this author. This was too short to build a good background, on both these characters, but the author did very well considering the amount of words/pages in this book. Michael Dean has a way of making a book come to life that I really love and I enjoyed it very much.

The dog was a cute touch in this short. I seriously need to read some full-length stories from this author. The two shorts I've read were jam packed with story!

Aced it!!!

This is the story of Derek and Ace(Harold). This is a short but very enjoyable story. This is 2nd audible book and I absolutely loved how Michael Dean narrated this story. It is written wonderfully with great main and secondary characters.

I received this book as an Arc and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

Loved it.

A quick easy listen, Derek has just moved to town and checks our the Sports bar Ace's place. The bartender Harold to his mother, offers friendship and more the first night they meet. Turns out Harold is the owner of Ace's place and known to friends as Ace. A sweet insta love. Great narration
