Publisher's Summary

Being rescued by a hot lumberjack after catching his fiancé cheating was the only good thing to happen to Beau for quite some time.

Getting stuck in the man’s cabin for the weekend? There were definitely worse ways to pass a few days.

Falling for him when the guy made it clear he didn’t do relationships? Well, Beau just wouldn’t do that...probably.

Out in the Cold is a 25,000-word novella with a 39-year-old furniture maker who is done with disappointing relationships, a 25-year-old accountant with terrible taste in fiancés, a remote cabin in the woods during a snowstorm, and a rescue dog with more sense than his owner.

Fun, sexy, quick read!

I really enjoyed this book in audio! Michael Dean was definitely a good pick to narrate this one!

I am such a fan of this author - they write chemistry between the MCs very, very well. And I'm so looking forward to more stories from this blue collar worker series!

Definitely enjoyable for a quick, steamy read!

I liked it

Pay attention to the length because it's a fast moving story with quick rollover from one MC but I didn't not like it .
I didn't love the narration - several times I couldn't figure out whose point of view the story was on and it was even Worse when they are having a conversation - almost impossible to discern who is saying what

Sweet and hot

This is a great little novella. And Michael Dean has the perfect voice for narrating it! Beau’s ex did him a favor by cheating on him, even if he couldn’t immediately see it. Getting stranded in a blizzard and being rescued by Cooper turns his worst day ever into his best weekend ever. Cooper doesn’t do relationships anymore but there is just something about the other man has that has him rethinking that stance after just a couple of days. I loved the ending too. Fabulous escape and worth a listen or a read.

A cute wintery romance

Coop and Beau's novella was the perfect bite-sized treat to listen to on an afternoon off. Their story started off with just enough background to get me attached to the main characters, and then took on a life of its own during Beau and Coop's cabin stay. Sure, it may have been a bit far fetched to believe that Beau just happened to stumble upon Coop's cabin right before a massive storm hit, but I was having too much fun with their will-they-won't-they sexual tension to pay much attention to anything else. These two were laughably unsubtle in their attraction to each other, and I knew it was only a matter of time before one of them caved and admitted it. Much to my delight, it didn't take long at all for Beau and Coop to agree to explore their feelings in bed, and once they got going I never wanted them to stop! Though they were complete strangers at the beginning of the novella, by the time the snow cleared I felt like Coop and Beau had formed a real love connection. Their story didn't extend much beyond their snowy staycation, but the little that it did assured me that Beau and Coop were going to give their relationship a real chance instead of letting time and distance force them apart.

**I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Don’t mean to be cold

I am a huge fan of Kiki Clark’s Leather and Chrome series. I will probably continue to purchase any contemporary audiobook she makes available. However, this book was not for me. I played it three times while doing other things and I could not concentrate on it. I couldn’t tell you what happened. It did not pull me in like her other books. I’m also not a fan of this particular narrator but I love the author.

All the Feels

For a novella, Out in the Cold, has all the feels of a full length book. Beau is adorably sweet and awkward. He just needs to gain confidence from a strong loving man like Coop. The narration was wonderful. Michael Dean was able to capture each guy’s personality. So, overall fantastic!

Fantastic Novella

I can't believe this is a short story because it didn't seem that way after I finished listening to it. I listened to Laying Pipe, which is Book 1 of the series first. I loved that story, so I was excited to listen to this one! They are stand-alones, so you can listen to them in any order.

I loved Beau. He was so relatable because he lacks confidence and is a little "boring". The worst day ends up being the best day when he has to stop driving because of a snowstorm. Forced proximity is one of my favorite tropes, and it is done well here. Even though it's a short story, Beau and Coop get their HEA. The narrator did a good job. Each character had a distinct voice, and I knew who was talking. I hope we get another story in this wonderful series! Beau's dad is an interesting character.

Oh Beau...

Poor Beau was having the most horrible day when he finds a random cabin to stop at as it's a white out and he can't continue to drive. Inside this cabin is the man he has needed his whole life.

This is instalove and instasexytimes on steroids. Coop does make Beau leave with the command to come back to him in a month if he still feels the same. Of course Beau texts him and then spends a month getting to know him over the phone. Then he packs up his life and gets his HFN.

Michael Dean narrates this fine, though the voices were sometimes inconsistent but not enough to take one out of the story.

Great short story

Wow!! Smoking hot short story. Kiki Clark has an awesome mind for MM romance. Terrific 💯 spot on. Michael Dean as always delivered the best and hottest narration. From cheating to break up and ending with the perfect HEA. This is the best 2 hours and 45 minutes I have listened to in a while. Well worth the credit and your time to listen

Love it

I love this story, I got the paperback so it’s only natural follow with the audiobook. It’s a sweet story about comfort and not settling for anybody but someone worthy.
Chubby and low self-esteem young man meets a nice, guarded lumberjack who can appreciate a body and will help him believe how sexy and desirable he is.
For once, bed scenes are not excessive because they makes sense for the self-esteem part.
The narrator is good, he didn’t make one of the voices feminine, which I really liked, though it was difficult to differentiate both characters, something curious, so maybe it was just me.

«I’m not sure hot to respond here. Should I try and talk you out of calling things off or console you over it being over?».
