The worst narrator ever!!

The story was ok but slow in parts. The narrator was awful. I thought about just giving up due to his monotone voice. I've listened to hundreds of books and don't usually write reviews, but this was so disappointing. The narrator ruined the story.

An excellent beginning for new series

The two main characters were immediately engaging, and the story was pleasingly twisty. The only thing that was hard to bear was the cruelty of some of the characters to each other.

Could it be that Dickensian?

This is my first listen to this author and this narrator. At first I couldn't get past the narrator's voice, as unfortunately, it put me to sleep. But, it took about 12 chapters to finally hook me into the story.

Yes, it is that Dickensian and convoluted!

Brilliant story

I can’t say how much I loved this novel. It had everything I want in entertainment. The story kept my interest and the writing kept me amazed with admiration. Wonderful.

I’ve been a Jack Cartwright Wild Fen series fan up to date. Saw a positive review of this book and thought I’d give it a listen. Wow, what a great experience. I’ve already got the next in the series
