Publisher's Summary

Hugh and his friends have, to his great displeasure, become the center of attention among the student body at Skyhold.

It turns out that surviving the depths of the labyrinth and helping stop a coup both tend to attract notice. If Hugh had his way, he'd happily go back to being just another anonymous student. He has more than enough to deal with already as he starts his second year, between his crushing load of schoolwork, training as a prospective candidate to the Librarians Errant, and navigating a long distance relationship.

Oh, and the fact that Hugh and company have been dragged into trying to catch a traitor on the Skyhold Council doesn't make life any easier. Nor does it help that the traitor is working with the demon Bakori, who lurks in the depths of the labyrinth below Skyhold, waiting for his chance at revenge.

all talk, no action

the first 2 books in the series were amazing, this one is comprised completely of dialouge and little to no action, all the cleverness from the first 2 books is gone. there are a lot of long pauses in narration where there shouldnt be as well

Great listen

Good sequel, thoroughly enjoyed. Well narrated.
As a book on its own? Not as good as the 1st two.

Could have been 5 star....

Started off great not going to give details as to not ruin it. But around chapter 18 or so it starts turning into anime side character brainstorming explanation mode. This wouldn't be so bad if it didn't go on for the next 8 chapters... It is really boring listening to the characters "trying to figure out" again no details about what don't wanna ruin it, but still.

The Author knows who is behind everything and hours (yes actually hours) of reading the characters trying to guess and obviously everything they are going to suggest is wrong or misleading is the most boring thing you can read. This would be fine if they gain something from it or grow as a person or something but no, nothing. After about 2 hours this of it I started skipping parts and sometimes whole chapters because whatever they do ends up achieving nothing and they end up back where they started as if what they did meant nothing.

The book ends strong though and so other then the needless filler of playing pretend detectives I enjoyed it. So, 4 stars, worth the read, just be weary of the big chunk of pointlessness just after half way though the book.

Mostly dull

about 7 hours of a school room type setting listening to hours of nothing. The ridiculous same sex relationship was unnecessary and played no real part in the story at all. The last two hours were pretty good. Total disappointment when compared to the other books.

Superb. Exciting. Great character development.

Just as good as or better than Mage Errant. Excellent character variety & surprising twists. A very satisfying read/listen. There is enough there that I want to listen again soon to catch more of the subtle hints & clues. I'm hooked, hoping there's a 3rd & 4th & . . . book(s) SOON!

Good book, less long pauses please.

I like the book and the narrator but I wish he didn't have such large pauses between sentences, it started bugging me bad enough for me to speed it up. I usually listen to all my books at normal speed.

The battle chapters are better than the sex chapters

Okay, not real sex, just a whole chapter of romantic attraction, same sex attraction, coming out and bisexual attraction. Kind of killed the flow of the book. Since it was non existent in the first two, and really ramped up in the 3rd, I assume it will be more of a teen romance going forward so I’m glad the author left this 3rd book finished where I don’t feel like I have to continue the series.

Slooooow book 3

Stayed with it just because I enjoyed first 2 books. Author needs to spread out action. I am all for a big finish but can put up w/ just so much exposition waiting for it to happen. Not sure the big pcture tease at the end was enough to come back for book 4.

Great story with a very well considered magic

Great story! Well developed world with a fascinating magic. The main characters are kids but the author does a good job of not making the story too childish. I highly recommend for an entertaining and light hearted listen

Narration leaves much to be desired.

The editing of the narration is odd, there is almost always this too long of gap between sentences that really break the immersion. I almost never felt like these were characters having conversations. And the voices for some charecters were in hindsight a bit poor, some charecters were locked in a voice that sounded mad when it didn't fit.
