jdk

I think this one is the best one yet. Of course, everyone has a favorite. Liked the action at the end and how it came together. All of these books are great, but, this one just stood out.

Great Book

Would you consider the audio edition of A Secret Love to be better than the print version?

No, they were both great

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Secret Love?

Loved when Gabriel Cynster finds out the new woman he is obsessed with is actually a child hood friend who he can't seem to stop arguing with.... I love it, when he realizes it.
Its gets even better when Altheana knows, he knows... and tries to avoid him without making a scene in in a ballroom full of people. She is so classy.

Which character – as performed by Simon Prebble – was your favorite?

Rupurt(Gabriel) Cynster, but my all time favourite is Sebastian (Devil) Cynster. He is a CLASSIC character.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

At times I actually wanted to smack some people upside their heads.... sometimes it was Gabriel for not knowing when to shut up! Other times it was Altheana for enabling her whole family to lay back while she risks herself to save them.

I really loved the exchanges between Gabriel and his valet Chance ( named because he saved Gabriel from being killed in the 'slums ' of London, and so Gabriel gave him a chance to better himself.... it's really funny.

Any additional comments?

This is my 2nd favourite Cynster story.

First will always be Devil's Bride.

great book, great voice

I love Stephanie Laurens books, but on!y with Simon Prebble reading. I"ve had a few others Reading but their voices made the Cynster men sound gay or dandified. one I got other day was too jarring.

Sir, please help me save my family

Alathea has a financially incompetent father. He has twice brought the family to the brink of bankruptcy and ruin. The first time Alathea was able to accomplish a recovery. This second time it seems it is going to be impossible to save the family. Her father has been fooled by an unknown crook into signing a note investing in a ficticious gold company. The note is for much more than her family is worth. Alathea seeks help from Gabriel Cynister. He was her childhood friend but they had been out of touch for years. She wants him to find the crook and retrieve the note. Tough job but Gabriel is attracted to the woman who has concealed her identity with a veil. Romance and intrigue ensue.

Narrator, Simon Prebble is fantastic – wonderful smooth baritone voice and great inflection.

Great series.

Love the narrator in this series. He has a wide range of voices that he uses which keeps you entertained! This series and the Cynster men are fun to read about and I love the strong, independent women.

The Last in a Series

This was a good way to spend a lazy afternoon. It's a solid B+ in my mind. The mix of a "who done it?" and a rather tepid romance is my description. I feel like I got my money's worth.

Another one bites the dust!

Another reread of the Bar Cynsters.
Gabriel is the financial genius of the family and Alathea was his tag along neighbor when they were small, and he was always reminded that she was as a sister to him. Alathea has a number of siblings and a father who is the direct opposite of Gabriel. She once gave up her hopes to take charge and dig her family out of debt, and must do so again. Both of them are strong, resilient characters, and the story is well crafted to hold interest. A really good read.
Simon Prebble was a marvelous choice for narrator!

The promissory note!

A mysterious Countess asks him for help. 11 years ago his childhood bestfriend left society for a supposed childhood illness. Now he has found out she had to help her family hide their true state affairs? This story is just so lovely. A typical Cynster family story.

Loved this!!

I liked everything about this book. I have read all of previous books in this series and was a little worried that it just couldn't be as good or better than the others...I was wrong. I laughed throughout and almost teared up in a couple of spots. Just loved it.

The narrator is excellent, one of my favourites alongside Roslyn Landor.

I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who is into this style of publication and to anyone wanting to try this kind of story for the first time.
