NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A stunning “portrait of the enduring grace of friendship” (NPR) about the families we are born into, and those that we make for ourselves. A masterful depiction of love in the twenty-first century.

NATIONAL BOOK AWARD FINALIST MAN BOOKER PRIZE FINALIST WINNER OF THE KIRKUS PRIZE

A Little Life follows four college classmates—broke, adrift, and buoyed only by their friendship and ambition—as they move to New York in search of fame and fortune. While their relationships, which are tinged by addiction, success, and pride, deepen over the decades, the men are held together by their devotion to the brilliant, enigmatic Jude, a man scarred by an unspeakable childhood trauma. A hymn to brotherly bonds and a masterful depiction of love in the twenty-first century, Hanya Yanagihara’s stunning novel is about the families we are born into, and those that we make for ourselves.

Such a gripping story. I will be thinking about all of these characters for a while.

Gripping story

You fall in love with each character and you feel their pain as well as their happiness. So heartbreaking but at the same time, so beautiful.

Heartbreaking, real, raw

Parts of this book are beautifully written and the writer is very talented. I found some of torture sequences over powering. it brought me tears on multiple occasions. it is not easy to get through. Matt's reading was passionate and excellent.

it is beautifully read

This story is profoundly brilliant, irresistibly beautiful, and filled with unfettered tragedy. A story of the authentic impacts of life-long PTSD, a life fought for and remade again and again. It begs for your curiosity and unadulterated willingness to hear and create space for stories like this, fiction and real.

A Beautiful Tragedy

Despite spending hours audibly sobbing and lying awake at night unable to stop thinking about this book, it is a true masterpiece, and the performance my Matt Bomer is heartbreaking and perfect. I both never want to read it again, and want to start over and read it again immediately because the characters and the story are now a part of me in a way that I don’t know how I’ll move on from. There are not sufficient words to describe this experience. My life will now be divided into BALL and AALL.

Devastatingly Beautiful
