Loved this book

Loved Easton & Charlotte. Danger, twisted, action, dark, disturbing, steamy, sexy and so good. I didn’t want to stop listening to this book because it was just that amazing. Be aware there is a cliffhanger.
Once again Kai & Wen knocked it out of the park with their amazing narration of this book.

Dark Billionaire Romance

A Debt Owed by Clarissa Wile is a Dark Billionaire Romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross. This is the first book in The Debut Duet.

This is the first book of Clarissa’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. The book does end on a cliffhanger but that was not a surprise since it is part of a duet series. I can’t wait for A Debt Repaid to be released on audible.

Kai and Wen did an amazing job on the dual narration. They really brought the story to life.

half of a story!

I noticed that this audiobook was a bit short but I now realize that it's because it's half of the story! It ends with no conclusion, just a cliff hanger. I also had a hard time getting in to the story. The characters don't act reasonably. The male protagonist is really delusional and everyone acts like this behavior is way too normal.
The narrators were the only good thing about this for me.

An alpha couple trying to best the other

This is my first Clarissa Wild book and I think it's pretty good. Be warned, some details may be triggers. I personally don't find it too disturbing, but if you're sensitive towards captor/captive, "selling" a daughter, etc., then please go on to another book.

The couple met years before and their initial meeting was a cute flirtation, but was ruined by Charlotte's high-brow father. He seems to like caging his fiery daughter at any chance he can get so he could use her to his advantage for the company. When Easton and Charlotte meet several times over the years, Easton was constantly reminded of how he's not of the privileged society and her reluctance to defend him added to his wounds.

In her mind, Charlotte was trying to protect herself as best as she could until she was able to break away from her father, even if it meant ignoring the one guy who seemed to not suffocate her. He interpreted her coldness as a spoiled rich princess and the only way he thinks he can hurt Charlotte's father is by "buying" her. He also hopes to punish Charlotte as well for not defending him in the previous encounters.

Easton's obsession to become richer than Charlotte's father made him very successful and he never forgot about the woman who hurt him. When he saw the opportunity, he made the offer to her father: die or give Charlotte to him. During their time together, Charlotte becomes irritable and desperate to get out of this new cage she's been confined to. Easton wants to break her and make her his mind and soul, however she fights it at every turn. He wants to give her the love and care she didn't get growing up in his own morbid way, but in order to do that, she needs to let go of her hurt caused by family.

There's an obvious attraction between them and Charlotte craves to be freed and be held at the same time. Her temper is as hot as her alpha husband; she won't back down even if he threatens her.

I applaud the narrators for this book. They voiced their main characters and supporting characters very well and distinctly. Wen Ross continues to impress me with his accents. I've heard him in The Bravta's Baby with his Russian accent and it's believable (to me, at least). He does sound like a younger version of Patrick Warburton or the guys from the Old Spice commercials, so I couldn't take Easton seriously. lol Kai Kennicott was pretty good and I liked how I could tell which character she was voicing. At times, she did sound like the actresses in the black-and-white romance dramas who overact their emotions, but it overall wasn't bad.

Be warned (again), this does end on a cliffhanger.

I don't think I'll be listening to the next book only because the feeling to move onto the next one and the anticipation of what's to come next was missing for me. Maybe I'll just read it if it comes out on Kindle. Overall, good job, Clarissa Wild!

Also, this is a duet narration like Renea Mason's books. :-) LOVE THESE KIND OF AUDIOBOOKS. It makes the stories more believable.

Cliffhanger

First, this is a cliffhanger, so if you don’t want to be left without the second part, is wait to listen. Performance was awesome, as always. They did the best they could work with. The storyline had potential but it seems pretty amateur compared to other novels I’ve listened to. I probably won’t wait for the next book. The male had potential but his internal dialogue seemed like he was falling for her (for no reason) but he was really a jerk. Not dominating jerk but just an all around jerk. The female was lame. She was repetitive and felt bad in some instances that didn’t make sense and there was no reason for it. I know this is all vague but if you listen to the story, you’ll understand what I’m saying. I would suggest passing on this one though.

Meh

I know there is a better story in this book somewhere but as it is it’s pretty meh. There are lots of debt owed books that have the sweet and harsh and even violent edge to them but it seems this book reaches for all of those edges and just falls into an uncomfortable area of trying to make to protagonist not so much a bitch and then wanting the antagonist not to be such an idiot. Whatever. It ends on a cliffhanger, which is fine, but I have no desire to travel this literary road any further.

Dark Alpha

Well holy shit. I loved that. This was my first book by Clarissa Wild and it did not disappoint. I’m already salivating for book 2!

This is a dark alpha romance. Let me just emphasize DARK. ALPHA. If this is not your kink. Turn away now as these are heavily played on in this story.

Hero/heroine meet by chance and immediately there are sparks but due to circumstances are not able to follow thru on anything more. They meet again a shirt time later and heroine ignores the hero, however hero does not know she’s been threatened to not talk to him. After that it becomes hero’s mission to destroy heroine and her family.

ABSOLUTELY Not Worth It

I stopped listening just now (more than halfway through). Please trust me when I say this audiobook is not worth it. I am not sure if we are allowed to divulge spoilers on reviews, so I will avoid that. All I can say is that I have never disliked a romance novel more than this one. There are some that are either too tame or too dark, but even those hold their own merit to an extent. This one, however, is actually making me angry by how poorly it had been written and executed. It drags along, is repetitive, and the sex scenes almost put me to sleep. I'm going to go re-listen to Prisoner by Skye and Annika...

A Dark Rabbit Hole Of Intensity & Emotions

This book will very quickly suck you down a dark rabbit hole Filled with intensity, drama, desire and emotional turmoil. Easton is a man bent on revenge and fueled by fury and desire. He is the type of antihero that will make you hate the things he does and yet, you will love to watch him do them. And I truly did. As for Charlotte, I liked her. It was easy to sympathize with this feisty and determined character. The pull of attraction, sizzling chemistry and scorching scenes were excellent. I thought that the story line was very entertaining and it kept me hooked right to the last page. Try to prepare for the cliffhanger because this is only book one of two. I loved that this audio book features dual narration because I think that really let's you connect with the characters and helps you easily become engrossed in the story. I felt that the narrators did a terrific job and I am very eager to listen to the conclusion to this duet.

Another brilliant book by Clarissa wild ! This book had me hooked straight away , I loved the little back story we got and even tho I do feel bad for Charlotte as really she didn't do anything to deserve what's happening to her I really like Easton and hes not the bad character hes made out to be , the whole storyline just kept me gripped and wanting more the whole time, it kind of ends on a cliffhanger but nothing massive but I absolutely cannot wait for book 2 , its going to be amazing

I read this first but listening to it brings it to a whole new level , the narrators just really bring this story to life , whether u read to it or listen to it it's an absolute must have
