She has death at her fingertips. He's off-limits, but he might be the only thing that grounds her storm.
River Waterborn is the daughter of a Representative. She was born to immense privilege and is cursed with immeasurable power.
For the past eight years, she's been trying to atone for the Incident. No matter how many lives she saves or patients she heals, she'll never truly be able to escape the weight of her magic.
One night, she loses two patients, and her control breaks. She runs from the hospital to seek the help of the only man she trusts: Nikhail Galebringer.
Nikhail is more than just a powerful air fae who happens to be nearby. He's also her brother's best friend and is strictly forbidden.
River believes herself to be cursed. She cannot be in a relationship with anyone, especially not the handsome fae she's flirted with for years. She is a bringer of death, and she must remember that.
But keeping Nikhail at arm's length gets more difficult with each passing day. Soon, River is left asking if Cursed Ones can find love, or will she forever be alone with her storm?
A Curse of Stars and Storms is the first book in the next duology in The Choosing Chronicles. Book four will have a guaranteed HEA. This duology should be listened to after A Game of Love and Betrayal and A Heart of Desire and Deceit.

this book sucked. it was bad, like objectively. let's start with the two characters they focus on: River and Nik.
first gross thing is their 14 year age gap. it's not sexy, it never was sexy, and never will be sexy. moving past this, River is an insecure, whiney, annoying and pathetic character. she goes on and on about being cursed because she lost control of her magic once when she was 15 and let it dictate the rest of her life. we get these statements that she's alone and everyone leaves her but we get zero examples of this until the very end when she uses examples that aren't even true.
second issue with these two: they have literally nothing in common and never actually do anything together but are so in love and are soulmates but didn't decide to pay attention to it for 4 years?
my biggest issue with this book is that LITERALLY NOTHING HAPPENS. it's a waste of time with disgustingly graphic and cringey sexual fantasies peppered through.
huge disappointment coming from the previous two books and if I had to guess, nothing is going to happen in the next book either 🙄
but don't worry, we end this book with an even more insecure River about to murder more people with her magic that she can't control because her brother wasn't there (he's literally traveling to get to her after their father's death) and her new lover who is in the military couldnt pick up the phone on the first call. so naturally no one loves her and she's going to be alone forever.
wild to go from a strong female character in the previous book to this pathetic, whiney, whimpering mess.
and if the next two books are about the best friend we heard two lines about and the air fae who watches Rykers dog I'm going to flip a table because WHO THE HELL CARES ABOUT THESE PEOPLE WE GET ONE SENTENCE ABOUT.
disappointing book.

65% of this was just repeated phrases

Huge lack of storytelling or depth. The other two books were cheesy but this was just poorly done. Definitely think we could have gotten a deeper look at these two characters and their lives with better storytelling.
Redundant
