Publisher's summary

Something is rotten at the Oakton Academy for Distinguished Young Gentlemen.

With rumors of fighting, cheating, and all-night parties—and that’s just the teachers—the headmaster is losing control of the school.

When a body is discovered, bludgeoned to death with a monkey statue on the last day of term, renowned detective Lord Edgington and his bumbling grandson Christopher are on hand to search for the killer. But with such a range of despicable suspects—again, that's just the teachers—plotting prefects, and maniacal students to choose from, will the discordant duo be up to the challenge?

The second book in the Lord Edgington Investigates mystery series has all the intrigue, humor, and twists of its best-selling predecessor, Murder at the Spring Ball.

A Body at a Boarding School is a 1920s-style whodunnit in a wonderfully wicked setting with a cast of curious characters to enjoy. Discover whether the great Lord Edgington can catch the killer and be home in time for afternoon tea.

Narrated by George Blagden from the TV shows Vikings, Versailles, and the Oscar-winning film Les Misérables.

Delightful story!

This was the second book of Benedict Brown’s that I've listened to. I like his style of relating the inner impressions of Chrissy.…a 16 year old that is growing in knowledge while being plagued with doubt. Great method of teaching investigative ability, too.

Love this series

I have listened to the first two books in this series and loved both of them. I am waiting for the rest of the series to become available on Audible. The characters are well fleshed out and very real. They have flaws and strengths which make them very endearing. I really like the fact that as the series progresses you get to meet a lot of Lord Edgington and Chrissy's family and friends. Lord Edgington's affection and belief in Chrissy is evident and Chrissy's confidence grows under that affection and belief. The mysteries are well written and keep you guessing until the end. The time setting allows you get a real sense of the period including the societal norms and the changes taking place within those norms. The books are entertaining and George Blagden is the perfect narrator for them.

Fortunately, he became a novelist.

One of the silver linings of the recent pandemic is that Mr. Brown became a full-time novelist. The novels are very entertaining and the stories are intriguing. The characters are equally interesting. I particularly like that the main character is an ordinary high school student with whom we can all relate.

Love this series!

Now on the third book of this series (excluding the shorter hot air balloon story), and I love them! The characters have such excellent detail.

And again, the performance was stellar and really makes the story even more interesting.

I also appreciate the notes from the author at the end! It’s lovely hearing the inspiration and research nuggets.

Clever with wonderful characters!

This book follows the first with humor and endearing characters, especially the narrator, this humor is greater this second time because the victims are not family members, and the woes of a boy in a boarding school provide much more fodder. The narrator is excellent and captures each voice just right. Enjoy!

A delightful series!

Benedict Brown has created a perfect example of a classic British cozy mystery series. The characters are thoroughly lovable and the plot twists and turns engaging. Add to that George Blangden's wonderful narration and you have a series that so far (I'm currently listening to the third title) leaves absoulutely nothing to be desired.

A RIPPING GOOD STORY!

Lord E. and Chrissy are an unlikely but unforgettable pair. I look forward in earnest as their relationship continues to grow and they continue to encounter murders most foul! Cheerio!
