The Hex Files: Wicked Never Sleeps

By: Gina LaManna

Narrated by: Allyson Ryan

Welcome to Wicked - the paranormal sixth borough of New York that's home to witches and goblins, werewolves and necromancers, elves and vampires‚ and former Detective Dani DeMarco. Dani's busy with the grand opening of her family's pizza parlor when a knock on the door leaves her face to face with the stunning yet lethal vampire in charge of the NYPD's supernatural branch - Captain Matthew King.

There's been a high-profile double homicide in the Sixth Borough, and Dani's peculiar talent is the only hope to untangle the web of lies and magic connecting the dead victims. As the case spirals into a pulse-pounding chase, Dani's not sure what's worse: the fact that a ruthless killer has his sights set on her or that her feelings for New York's most infamous vampire have returned.

GOOD START. INTERESTING PLOT.

Well written and well narrated. The plot was interesting though it was a bit slow at the middle but it caught up towards to end. Dani is a difficult character to understand at times. The romance between her and Captain Matthew King can be rather distracting and going no where. I hope more will be revealed in the next book. As for the mystery it was good. Lots of intrigues and secrets but the truth came out eventually. Still a good start for a new series.gina LaManna wrote well and Alyson Ryan performed well with different voices for the chances. I will continue the next book which is available now.

Liking this new series

Gina LaManna has crafted a good second series with well rounded and fully developed characters. Allyson Ryan gives a great performance giving each character their own distinct voice. I recommend this book to paranormal fans.

Light Entertainment

Narrator took a bit getting use to, but did a fairly good job at expressing different characters.
Story left me wanting to know what happens next.
Sime plot points a little too over the top.... talking furniture was a bit much.
Overall entertaining story that was fun to listen to but lacked the intensity of other paranormal stories.

decent

not something I couldn't put down, but a good story. I do plan on reading the next one.

Hex files

This book series puts my favorite things together. Mystery, romance and paranormal species. Love it.
