On the field, I protect my zone like my life depends on it. Off the field, I like to have a little fun.
My last year at Walker University was supposed to be about football, family, and hanging out with my boys. I had it all under control—until her. Emma, the stunning blonde, who intercepts my heart and changes the game. Mysterious, enchanting, unforgettable. One night with her wasn't nearly enough.
I searched everywhere, but the campus might as well have swallowed her whole.
Just when I thought I'd never see her again, she shows up on my doorstep…pregnant with my baby.
Now I'm playing for keeps, ready to prove to her that I'm no longer the notorious playboy around campus, and I'm more than my stats and headlines. The stakes are higher, the obstacles tougher—but now, there's something far more important than a championship.
It's about securing my future. My family. My girl.

I read this book when it comes out through ebook, and I had to listen to it when I saw it was released on audible. This book has such positivity throughout it, especially in the MMC. Talk about a golden retriever hero. You can't read this book and walk away unhappy.

First, I want to say that this audiobook was done so well. Willa Jaymes and Austin Stone did such an outstanding job reading this book. Austin went above and beyond in this book showing his emotions when they were displayed on the pages. If the character laughed, he laughed, if they cried, his voice became emotional as though he were going to cry. I will definitely listen to more books by him in the future.
This book does start with a sad prologue, and it goes describes why Emma is like she is in college. She has a singular focus in college, to become a doctor. She likes control in her life and for things to be put into a neat box to make her life easy. She doesn't let her friends her to close to her. She lives in an apartment with 3 other girls she's on the University women's golf team with. 1 of those girls, Olivia a.k.a Liv is Emma's best friend and didn't even know about her sister. So that goes to show she doesn't keep people to close.
Emma's roommates talk her into going to a party with them in hopes that she'll hookup with someone to let loose. Emma studies hard and is in her junior year at Walker U, as a pre-med student. She's also their on a full scholarship for golf. She does have a hookup every once in a while, but not often at all.
Her roommates happen to be dancing with Archie Griffith, campus football star that week be entering the draft that year and is also the campus playboy. She is attractive to Archie, but so is every other female on campus. Once Archie looks up from her roommates and locks eyes with her, he doesn't look away. She only has a 1 night policy, then walks away and back to her studies. She only wants to reach her goal of becoming a doctor and helping children like her sister.
Archie knew Emma was special when he locked eyes on her. She also rocked his world that night, but when he woke up the next morning, Emma was gone. He didn't know her last name or anything else about her beside that her name was Emma.
In the following weeks that follow, Archie looked for Emma on campus and at parties, but couldn't find her. No one seemed to know who she was by description either. Until she spots up at Archie's house to inform him that she was pregnant. She was also freaking out and scared to.
Archie stepped up to the plate from the beginning. He wanted to date Emma before the whole pregnancy came about, but now he's going to be a dad to.
You could feel Archie's excitement for this baby and the love he had for his unborn child. He stepped up for Emma and done anything she wanted or needed.
Archie had a lot going on throughout this book, and this was before the pregnancy. He had football, playoff games, the combine and draft. Not to mention he was saying goodbye to his best friend who left for another campus to pay football. He also had 5 brothers and his parents that were really important to him also.
Then in walked Emma, and excuse me for saying this, but this was my only negative thing about her. She wouldn't let Archie tell anyone about the pregnancy or baby. So he had all that going on above, then add on a major stress like a pregnancy (like it was for Emma) and not let him tell anyone but his parents, who lived in another state. She didn't want to meet his friends nor really cared about what was going on in his life until the championship game when she seemed to realize she may not be there for him like he is for her.
Emma was so stressed, almost like she was ashamed of this baby, even though she never said that. It came out that way, to me. She wouldn't let Archie tell anyone. She didn't tell anyone except her parents, and he best friend Liv. He other 2 roommates never knew she was pregnant until 26 weeks folks... if was crazy. She just wants to keep her, Archie and the pregnancy in this little bubble she thought she could live in. She found out the hard was that she can't do that.
If you read Beck & Charlie's book, the 1st one in this series, then you already know how his friends find out about him having a girl and her being 8-9 months pregnant by then. I thought this was extremely unfair for Archie. It's not that I didn't like Emma, I just didn't like how she handled everything. Like she thought she was alone when that wasn't the case.
This is such a great book though. I loved them wanting to keep the baby a surprise until birth, so we have the birth towards the end, along with plenty of great moments throughout, up and down. Pick this book up, you'll love it!
