"Not to worry, I'll compensate you for your time and your… skill."
My boss is a walking red flag. He's bolshy and rude. Impossible to please. A big, broody man with dark eyes that carry an unmistakable message—"I am not manageable."
Seriously, he's the worst.
If it's not bad enough that he's a nightmare in the office, he's all but ordering me to be his date to his son's wedding. He says it's called "winning a divorce." I try telling him that's not a real thing but it falls on deaf ears.
Not only that, he appears to be in the throes of a major personal awakening and is determined that I'm the man to guide him through it. Normally, I'm all for going above and beyond in the name of being a star performer at work, but the services he requires are becoming increasingly indecent.
See what I mean? Red flags galore. So many red flags I can't count them all. I might as well be playing a game of red flag bingo at this point.
Just my luck, when it comes to Derek MacAvoy… I see a red flag and instantly want to date it.
Work: Strictly Professional can be enjoyed as a standalone, but is best enjoyed after Rent: Paid in Full.

Some reviewers weren’t impressed by the narration, so I’m gonna list some likes and dislikes that are correct, compared to the other incorrect reviews.
Likes (in no particular order):
1. Kirt Graves is an easy win. He’s never let me down and I love him forever and always. He voiced a Wyn who made me laugh and cry and LAUGH and squee and I love Wyn. Hell, he voiced a Derek, who made me cry (I don’t know if Kirt’s Derek made me laugh - he didn’t have a ton of moments but if he happened to have a funny moment, trust and believe, I laughed). I loved every version of every character he voiced. Kirt is the GOAT. If you disagree, you’re wrong and it’s time for you to accept reality. I don’t know you, but I’m here for you. Reach out if you need support.
2. Shannon Gunn, who voiced Miller in Rent: Paid in Full (RPiF), did a fab job voicing Derek. If you liked him there, you’ll like him here. Don’t act brand new, reviewers. Y’all were here for Miller, stop the hate. I LOVED RPiF and loved being able to hear glimpses of Miller, while also experiencing a character who was clearly related to him, but a different person. It was nice having a taste of Miller in his father. Also, Shannon served a lot of screamy sex scenes, and they didn’t even make me feel cringey. The screamy ones normally take me out of it, but Shannon asked me to hold their beer, then showed me what was what.
3. I fucking loved the story. Someone somewhere said it was a cut / paste of RPiF, but they were liars. The 2 books started sharing elements around the halfway point, but it felt more like an easy nod, to me. The characters’ reactions to said nod differed wildly, and all of my ugly crying was due to a yearning to experience so much love and beauty, not to upset and the possibility of my heart dying both violently and slowly.
(Gentle and unimportant) Dislikes (that shouldn’t sway your opinion)
1. Unlike RPiF, there were a fair number of side characters with more than a single line of dialogue this go-round. Shannon wasn’t the strongest narrator here. I loved his voice for Miller in RPiF, but he changed his voice into something pretty nasally this go-round, which confused me. Not like he had to learn someone else’s technique. THAT SAID, Miller has a very small roll this book, and I was never distracted enough to leave a negative review about how distracting it was (* cough *). It was a little distracting, but my ass still sobbed and cackled at Miller’s nonsense when the time called, so whatever.
2. I kind of sort of wish I wasn’t exclusively attracted to mm romance, because I’d love to read/listen to
Eff the haters, I’m never wrong
