Great Read

I liked it all and I will never do this again if I have to say so much about a story again!

Entertaining, but not amazing

I felt like this story was good with the potential to be great. In trying to meet certain criteria for the storyline to come together properly, I feel some of the storyline and dialogue were absurd, annoying, and out of place and could have been dealt with more creatively. Loved the story of the elderly matron that EB is friends with, I wish her storyline had been a bit more expansive. The Bingley's were dealt with really well, the sisters in particular, CB was a disappointment. I wish the storm had been a bit more dramatic, the women's story amidst the storm made little sense, maybe I just wasn't able to picture what the author intended? The men - yuck.

I'm not going to retell the storyline, I think the book descriptions does that. I really liked the idea of coming together during duress and the idea of the storm, I really feel like there potentially was so much more to this idea and wish that it had been more fully flushed and elaborated upon. Anyway- the story is good, the narration is stellar. If you're like me a desperately searching for more of this genre (because you already own most of them) that is read by a human reader (I refuse to support any book read by virtual voice), then it's an entertaining listen. if this is your first foray into this genre - skip this one until you are more desperate in your search.

Swept Away

Stevie Zimmerman gives a great performance in this stormy story. You can almost hear the howling wind and the hail pelting the windows of Netherfield Park’s manor house. In place of a wise Mr. Bennet, Elizabeth finds guidance from a widowed sea captain’s wife. She questions Wickham’s sorry tale and is gently urged to see Darcy in a better light quite early in the story. Thanks to a terrible storm, both Darcy and Col. Fitzwilliam display exemplary leadership traits, and poor Bingley hides in the wine cellar with the other drunks. Sweet romance for ODC that moves quickly to a wedding. Jane sees sense and catches Richard. Sad to admit that I enjoyed the scene of Lydia’s hair catching fire! Dry enjoyable audiobook!

Exciting, dramatic, and really lovely.

The arc of this story, with the prologue, which sets up the subplot moving through the main, and the increasingly fierce weather, the Netherfield Ball, and then the full blown storm raging around Meryton during the ball takes us somewhere around half way through. And then the serious stuff starts to happen. Like Elizabeth we are witnessing the best of Darcy's heroic actions; in his kindness toward the widow Lizzy visits frequently and his taking care of everyone who are forced to remain at Netherfield during the storm and his increasing regard of and trust in Elizabeth. A man easy to fall in love with. The story continues with a handful of quite important personality and responsibility comparisons, and some who are believed quite amiable and loving are found to be rather irresponsible. On the other hand, others are found to be cleverer than they pretend to be, or are forced to mature very quickly due to circumstances. It was clever listening to Darcy go from 'Who me? I'm not interested in HER whatsoever!"--to--'She's so kind, she's so concerned about all of her family, she doesn't give up-she thinks it over and goes back to the problem from another angle, no one sees her worth like I do, love her.' It's Darcy's-I can't-I can't-I won't-I have to, all over again, but unique to this story. The subplot comes full circle, meeting in a dramatic end.

I had forgotten so much of this story since reading it shortly after publication. I so enjoyed experiencing it again. I loved the epilogue. Highly recommended.

J. Dawn King and Stevie Zimmerman have proven once again to be a great team. Wonderful favorite narrator to match the wonderful favorite author.

Whirlwind romance!

Wow! This is such a lovely story! Once Darcy let's his guard down, he loves fiercely. Elizabeth discovers that her father isn't someone to admire. After she let's go of her prejudices, she realizes what a gentleman
Darcy is and the deep love she could have for him.

Beautiful Yet Stormy P& P Variation

Wonderful storyline for this variation of Pride & Prejudice with low angst. Enduring the trials of tragic stormy weather brings about love and romance! A treasure to listen to!

Great as always

This was an entertaining tale about Mr Darcy and Elizabeth. A big storm swept through Hertfordshire. Great story. Great Jaff.

Average

Many good elements but dragged in parts. Lack of chemistry between Darcy and Elizabeth. I could not understand why Darcy did not stomp Wickham
