Resumen del Editor

Adam Greyhawke is through with marriage. After losing his wife at a young age, he's more interested in carousing and gambling at the Heirs' Club than taking another trip to the altar. When his obligations as the Earl of Greyhawke thrust him into the heart of society, he dreads the boredom that only a ballroom can inspire in a roguish scoundrel. That is, until he meets a bewitching young woman who captures his curiosity - and reminds him just how delicious desire can be.

Miss Katherine Wright is accustomed to men interested only in her generous dowry. Adam's attraction is far more powerful - he tests her wits and her courage at every turn, until she finds herself longing to fulfill an everlasting passion she never imagined was possible. But the breathtakingly handsome nobleman is as stubborn as he is scandalous, and Katharine must be the one to convince him that real love is worth any risk....

Contains mature themes.

very Boring

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would change the story. It has been done before. I just think without something new or a little twist, it is boring. The dialogue is especially terrible. Nothing witty or sparkling. Some of the details are over-written and wordy. Too much explanation i.e. details of taking off hats, gloves and where they are placed etc , slow down the story. In this case , there is always some note about the cane the heroine uses, where she is holding it, where it's placed. Yes, we get it , she has a cane to help her walk.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I am never sure about my next listen and I always comment that this question should be removed as it doesn't provide any help in understanding the quality of this book. The questions to guide the review should relate to the current novel and not the next potential book.

Have you listened to any of Barrie Kreinik’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I think this narrator is fantastic. I bought the book because of her skills, but she was wasted here.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No. It was boring. The heroine did not really have a disability, just an issue that no one wanted to correct. I think it an insult to people who have actual mobility issues , and a shameful use of this plot device to make the heroine seem sympathetic and needy.

Any additional comments?

I tried very hard to like this series, but it fell far short of the mark. Each book can be a stand alone, but the male friendships are the central point of the books. I still don't understand the point of the heir's club, as they don't seem to spend much time there and nothing really important happens at the club. They were friend before the club, so it didn't actually bring them together.
It might have been nice to see some interaction between the wives of these friends. That is an opportunity to develop characters and expose more of the h/h. In this series, that didn't happen.
Things happened a little too fast in this book. The hero comes to london after a 2 year isolation. The first woman he sees ( within 15 minutes of being at his first ball)) and he is instantly &"in love". They both never seem to have any genuine issues after the first chapter, so nothing exciting, but a slow meander towards the end of the book, which is a foregone conclusion , as its a romance.

Holes in the story

It was a great story, but just like the other two, there are giant gaps in the plot. The tale would be even better if we could hear the rest of the details.
