Resumen del Editor

A Sabbat Worlds novel.

We will make our own history, and all other accounts be damned.

Listen to it because...Volpone Glory covers the exploits of the soldiers of the 50th Volpone of the Royal Volpone Regiment. Their ranks are filled with proud and arrogant soldiers who come from the noble families of Volpone, earning them the name 'Bluebloods' among the Astra Militarum. Nick Kyme breathes life and humility into the members of this otherwise supercilious regiment as they battle against impossible odds.

The story: as war rages across the Sabbat Worlds, the Volpone Bluebloods are sent to Gnostes at the head of a massive Imperial host. Tasked with the liberation of the Agria island chain from the entrenched Blood Pact, the haughty soldiers of the Volpone find their mettle sorely tested in a brutal meat grinder. After a punishing setback threatens to derail the campaign, an unlikely champion rises through the ranks and victory once again seems possible. But the propaganda of war is a fickle beast, and the Archenemy are cultivating a plot the Imperium can scarcely fathom. Through glory and honour, the Volpone are desperate to prevail, but can they endure the rigours of the bloodiest campaign in their vaunted history and come out the other side intact?

Written by Nick Kyme, narrated by Andrew Wincott.

Great book, but there is a one glaring question

Where is Infernus, Nick. It said that Circle of Fire will be continued in the Infernus.

As for the book itself it was interesting to see events from the Volpones POV. Maybe we will have thouse Sabbat Crusade anthology books in audioform.

Character arcs, intersecting: a cut above the norm

What a great book! by the end it was a gripping page turner I didn't want to end. The characters, how they were built up and how they interacted throughout the middle and end was awesome. Great character arcs and interactions between them. honestly, we don't get that kind of quality, or at least I haven't seen it very much, writing in Warhammer 40k novels. I'm hoping for more just like this!

I think this is personal taste, but I like the voice actors voice - much gravitas very talent - yet it was a bit slow? I put the book on 1.35X speed and made sure my bass boost headphones setting was off because he already has plenty, and it was perfect.

well done Nick and Andrew!

I loved it

Having been a long time fan of the Guant's Ghosts series it was really refreshing to get some insight into their biggest rivals

I’ve listened to all of the heresy novels, all the terra novels, war of the beast ect… this is by far my favorite book so far.

Really Good

The story was really good if not a tad bit predictable. The narrator took some getting used to but the narration grew on me.

Great, Want More

Gaunt’s Ghosts is my favorite series of all time, and I was concerned going into this that it wouldn’t match up. I was surprised how quickly I became engrossed in it. The culture of the Volpone feels believable and the characters were different enough to stand out. I’ve read a few reviews talking about politics and wokeness but I didn’t feel that way at all. A female officer mentions misogyny like 3 times and it’s pretty understandable in those moments.

All in all give it a listen. I went in with 5/10 expectations and came out excited for more.

Aristocrats in war

The book is good at showing how the guard higher-ups dream of nothing more than grandeur while spewing words about honor and duty to the lower ranks. However this time we get to see even the lower ranks are treating the people they're meant to be working with worse than dirt and as expendable bodies.

Most of the books I've read where the guard are involved I feel for at least a few main characters and can sympathize or feel something for them even if they aren't a good character. However in this story I only ended up liking maybe two characters and both were barely ever in the story. It's hard to root for or feel any sort of liking to a character when they don't show a single bit of personality other than treating everyone around them as trash. The only character who broke outta that for me was ones who liked to kill people for no apparent reason and nobody really seemed to care and another who finally toward the end got suspicious.

Overall some of the story is hard to understand such as a spaceships cannon being used on the planet but it's described as a laser or something and artillery in another scene. The characters are all just forgettable as besides a few I barely remembered who was who and what their roles were. The ending felt rushed as like yay we won a battle and now the planets safe even though the enemy fell back and could be regrouping.

Sorry I know it's not much of a review but I had a good few issues. There were some decent moments along the way but they were so few and far that I can't even remember em now after having just finished the book.

Almost good

The character Aramis ruined this whole novel for me. Also people will approach this book as it exists in a simular realm as Gaunt, but unfortunately doesn't come close to being as good as that. Several small errors such as a weapon being described as designed to fight star ships in one chapter and being described as artillery in the next.

Excellent.

This isn’t your average Ghosts book. I was put off at first by the narrator’s style, but it grew on me. The Vulpone are bastards, and the style fit very well. Writing was wonderful, and had several moments of doubt of what what would happen and loved the character development. Looking forwards to a sequel, and wishing the Bluebloods had official models.

Fine guard book for grimdark 40k

Its an OK book, the start isn't great as it rushes to introduce too many characters all at once jumping around too quickly, but once the book straightens things out the battle in the middle of the book is very rewarding. the rest of the book after that felt rushed and tried to kill off as many characters as possible as fast as possible, maybe emulating Dan Abnett's own style, but it leads to the ending coming too fast, and feeling completely hollow
