Absolutely love this series!!! great narration, great story. Love, love, love the journey in book 2.

A fast paced straightforward story with good narration quality.

I like that it is straightforward and story is easy to follow. There are no other MMC to mislead the romance. I like my romance one on one and venturing to solidify their bonds.

Okay, book 1 was great. This sequel seems to be dragging longer in scenes that is unnecessary… and the phrase “and then it hit me” is used WAY too much. About half way through and hoping it will pick up.

Relationship Rape/Control/Abuse Trigger Warning

The female MC is a sheltered virgin slave of a different culture than the primary male love interest. However, he still ends up exploiting her for sex ignoring her obviously small knowledge of these mature relations between their species (he is roughly 70 years older than her so inexperience is not a plausible excuse).
He then lets her know that he will destroy and/or kill anyone she ever sleeps with or has feelings for going forward because he owns her sexually now, despite the story plot looming the idea of him still needing to marry someone other than the MC, so she has to deal with not a fated mate situation but actually fated side piece vibes. The love interest guy does very serious, non-consentual things to the main character.
This story turned wildly wrong somewhere around 2 hours from the story's end. I was too sick and overwhelmed by the relationship abuse to finish the last hour of this book, which was obviously supposed to sound sexy in a possessive masculine way...but was really super abusive, exploitative, and outright sick.
And I say that knowing some people like those themes quietly in their novels...but wow..., you'd think you wouldn't be this far into a series before they pop out to catch you unaware. There's little warning, so I'm writing this review to help readers decide.
I cannot imagine anything in there that would have redeemed this love interest or story arc.
I thought the first book was a bit simple, if not silly, but a fun ride...HOWEVER, I would urge anyone concerned by the themes I am describing to not read this book or series. I am done with the series.
