Going into the second semester, all Dorian wants to do is explore his relationship with Milo and prepare his students for the upcoming academy showcase. But Enchanter Evergreen’s fame makes Dorian question his place in Milo’s world. His fear of going public is complicated when he notices a shift in his telepathy that strengthens his bond to Milo in a way it never has before. Dorian finds himself forced to simultaneously navigate his work life and Milo’s enchanter cases.

This amplification in his magic puts a strain on Dorian’s mind, making it difficult to prioritize his students while they struggle to rank into the showcase. Dorian wants to ensure their magics are mastered in time for the event, help them deal with trauma from the warlock incursion last semester, and teach them to handle class bullies this semester. But finding a balance is out of the question when Dorian’s mind is reeled toward dangerous threats lurking in the city.

Demons. Haunting and deadly, they stalk citizens, picking off witches and warlocks alike, while Milo investigates their motives. It’s a terrifying reminder for Dorian about why he wasn’t cut out for life as an industry professional. He lost Finn to demons, and now, just as he’s finally gotten some semblance of his life back, Dorian worries he’ll lose Milo to the same fate.

Throughly Enjoyable!

Omg, this book was such a wild ride! I loved the blossoming rekindled romance, and seeing the students grow; it was all so cute and heart warming! And then I’d be hit with drama and danger and I would worry so much for the characters. I also didn’t see the twist(s) coming, but it was done in a really good way where it all made sense and clicked into place, not something out of left field. Will be binge reading the next book asap!

Fervently hoping for their happiness!

The story started a liiiiittle for me, but then it picked up and kept running. And then the ending snuck up and left me ready for the next one!
It's awesome watching the colorful cast of students grow through the eyes of their teacher. It's wonderful to watch said teacher realizing he just might be worthy of his partner's love.
The narration makes all the characters shine.

Wahoo what a fabulous listen! Kirt Graves does a fabulous job bringing this action packed story to life.

Full of twists and turns throughout that kept me on my toes and had me hooked from start to finish. Great cast of characters and great world building. I love the interactions between the students, the teachers and the entire cast. I love the cats and how Milo and Dorian interact with them. I loved watching Dorian with the students and the confidence grow in the students.

It does end in a cliffhanger but the next 2 books are already available. (hopefully soon to come in audio as well)

I will say that if you do not start the series from the beginning you may be a bit lost so I highly recommend reading / listening to the series in order. I jumped in and started with this book and still loved it but my brain was working overtime to figure out the missing pieces from book 1.

great story, great reading. 10/10. I was gunna be mad at the ending but the last 10 mins blew my mind. amazing work!
