I like that there are key points and ones that are reiterated are very good ones to know.

This audiobook is very comprehensive. The author does a great job of breaking down all the steps, equipment, and tips/tricks to raise chickens in your backyard. I appreciate the attention to detail the author shows. They do a great job at showing you exactly where to start: the initial preparations and legalities involved in raising chickens. And throughout the book provides clear, easy to understand steps that cover everything from zoning laws and city codes to understanding space requirements and costs. This book even included a breed buying guide, and defines all the lingo, so you sound like you have been doing this awhile! This book has it all and will equip you with everything you need to raise chickens that produce eggs in your own backyard!

Who Knew!

Love the narrator of the book! What a great voice. I know nothing about raising chickens prior to listening to this book. There is so much more to it then getting a coup and chickens. I know many people who raise chickens for the eggs. I certainly hope they have read this book to guide them through the process. Thanks for this step by step guide!

Found this to be super beginner friendly resource for raising chickens, covering subjects ranging from feed, domestication habits, and routine, to coop structure and layout. The author does a great job of really walking through every step in detail, so that its hard to really mess anything up. The author also used a number of personal examples which helped ground the content, and made it easy to picture applying.

Let's Raise Chickens!

The idea of raising chickens in my own backyard seemed like an impossible challenge till I came across this comprehensive, easy-to-understand guide. It is well-written and contains all the basics for a first-time chicken owner who needs help with every aspect of the process. I felt like the author is not only extremely knowledgeable about raising chickens, but cares about their wellbeing and also relates to my desire for increased self-sufficiency and living more sustainably.

One of the things I appreciated most about this book was how it provided lists of pros and cons regarding different choices that chicken owners face. For example, the pros and cons of different types of bedding, pros and cons of specific chicken breeds, pros and cons of purchasing chicks compared to pullets compared to mature chickens. This organized information takes so much of the overwhelm out of all the choices, saving time and energy for anyone who is serious about getting chickens. Listening to this book will be your first step towards starting your own flock and enjoying those just-laid eggs for breakfast!
