This guide covers everything you need to know and what to look forward to when it comes to raising your own chickens. Listening to others can be misleading and details can be vague when friends explain raising chickens...NOT WITH THIS BOOK. An excellent and insightful listen.

Very comprehensive guide about chicken care

This listen is more comprehensive than other guides on this topic. I really like the emphasis on animal wellbeing. Even if I don't go the route of raising my own chickens, I do watch chickens for friends and have done so many times. All of the knowledge will equip me to better care for chickens and to ensure they are healthy under my watch. I'm also going to consider buying local eggs vs going the more convenient route at the grocery store. This listen definitely inspired me to buy from a local provider of eggs.

I liked the fact that the author was a farmer as it was clear there was years of experience condensed into his book, which helps encourage newbies or even those that had never thought about owning their own chickens until coming across his book. The book provides detailed overviews of popular breeds and their characteristics, as well as different types of coops and how to construct them. The section on feeding and caring for your chickens is equally thorough, covering everything from the type of feed they need to how to keep them healthy and prevent common health problems.
