Great book series

I waited until I listened to all the books before leaving a review. What I learned from this book was that the book is not really about the zombies, but about humanity. The zombies aren’t really the issue, they’re just an annoying fly in this ZA. Great book and series from start to finish. A definite must listen.

Great way to end these books! Loved how it all tied together at the end. Sad and beautiful all in one.

The end of an excellent series.

Previously I read The Scattered and the Dead # 3 and the following is my original review for the eBook, I recently got the opportunity to listen to a review copy of the audio book and find that not only does my original review stand, but with the narration of Christopher Boucher the story came alive once again and I got to hang out with all of my character friends once again.

With this episode The Scattered and the Dead saga concludes, as I write this review, I feel like I am writing an obituary for several friends and some folks who deserved to meet untimely ends yet didn’t in those earlier volumes. This series should never have worked, it fused multiple timelines with multiple locations spread across the post-apocalyptic United States, yet due to the rich storytelling and excellent character development The Scattered and The Dead quickly became my favorite dystopian series I devoured each new episode knowing full well the next was just around the corner or just over the next hill. With the notice that this was the final episode, I devoured this book as well, yet in small bites so as to savor each chapter knowing I would never go on adventures with Erin and Izzy again, or ride along with Delfino and Baghead as they traveled to Baghead’s rendezvous with destiny and his meeting with Father, and even though I found Father one of the most despicable characters ever written, following his story was kind of like the proverbial traffic accident, you just have to look to see what happened.

If you are reading this review, you are already a TSAD fan I’m sure and I have to say the way this final edition was presented and concluded was excellent. Questions that nagged me from the beginning were answered, and each character’s fate was left in a way that there was no question of their future.

Years ago, I read the Riverworld series and after all the investment in the characters and story, to this day I still have no clue what the end meant or why Riverworld even existed. With The Scattered and the Dead # 3 I feel as satisfied as I can be with this final episode and how it tied this series up. I say satisfied because I feel I’ve lost my friends – Erin, Izzy, Delfino, and Baghead to mention a few, but as the old song says, C’est la vie, whatever will be will be.

The only thing I can say about this book, is grab it, savor it and buckle up for the final climbs and drops on this TSAD rollercoaster ride, you will not be sorry.
