Descriptive of end of life meaning that was very real. Respect for all life. Ended very sweetly.

wonderful story

a Terrific story magic and the way lives intertwined, it is a scary thing the first time you help someone cross over whether it's in a hospital or on the side of road after an accident you still have to be comforting.

this story puts you at ease listening to it, sort of calming even though it deals with end of life thoughts.

I wanted to listen to this book, good characters, interesting story…Audible is my preference for reading books
Cassandra Campbell is fantastic in any book she is reading.
I didn’t like another narrator, too dramatic, too everything…and I almost gave up after first chapter with her..

Perfect for book clubs!

Beautifully written story. I couldn’t put it down. Having 3 young kids, I still managed to read it in a few days finding any free time I had reading or listening to this book. Loved how there was a touch of magic fantasy in a very believable reality. I also love how it switched back and forth between 1940’s France and Virginia in 2019 and how there were 2 distinct readers for Helene and Louise. Nicely done. Highly recommend for easy reading and book clubs. The author paints beautiful pictures with her words.

Marvelous dilemmata !

Very good book... the writing is good (word choice, grammar, the whole shebang). US present time to France just as the Nazis roll into Paris... then swings back to the US many years and a generation later... from what I know, the author did research on the earlier time period. Then, the delemmas/dilemmata....many either/or, what if, darned if I do or don't... its a thinker. If none of the above scares you off, and you like a book written from a woman's point of view, you might try this. I will definitely reread it; probably several times.

Interesting story, premise: can you save a life by taking another. The performance of Louise was way too much.
