Unnecessary 2nd story

I enjoyed the book, and recommend reading for history of the period and horse racing. However, the story within the story of Jess and Theo seemed unnecessary and appeared included only to take advantage of current social issues.

The Narrators were wonderful.

Endings

The finality and negativity of the ending didn’t mess with the exuberance and energy of the narrative. Although interesting historical connections were drawn, I was left deflated!
