The stakes have never been higher.

The world is teetering on the brink of annihilation. The Lords Celestine and the Lords Devilish, celestial and infernal beings locked in an age-old enmity, have at last found the perfect battlefield for their apocalyptic Great Crusade: the mortal realm.

Cade Ombra, former Glorian Justiciar turned mercenary wonderist, leads a band of emotionally unstable mages in a desperate bid to prevent the impending clash of divine and diabolical titans. Failure will leave humanity to be conscripted into an eternal war, serving as foot soldiers doomed to oblivion.

The mission seems impossible, but Cade and the Malevolent Seven aren't exactly pacifists, so they're determined to bring peace no matter how many people they have to kill first. With wit as sharp as their blades and a moral compass that points only toward survival, they're ready to cut down anyone in their path to stop the war before it begins.

Prepare for a whirlwind of dark magic, irreverent humour and relentless action in The Malevolent Eight: The Bad, The Worse and The Wicked. The fate of the humanity hangs in the balance, and only the most malevolent can hope to save it.

if you enjoyed The Malevolent Seven, like SO MANY of us human realm denizens did...you haven't heard ANYTHING yet. LAUGH OUT LOUD funny (literally)....sacrifice bladder control (almost)...and DON'T attempt to use in lieu of Ambien if you enjoy listening at bedtime (I double-dog dare you!).

Sebastien is to epic adult fantasy what Neal Stephenson is to time-traveling witchcraft (D.O.D.O.) and Christopher Moore is to Shakespearean drama (Pocket!). ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Joe Jameson's narration seals the deal!

Bring on The Malevolent Eight (and 1/2)! Soon! Please!

This was a great story. The vampire kangaroo was the silly at first but honestly ended up being the best part. Loved him!

I found the book, dark, funny, gory and slightly heartwarming which is I'm sure, what they intended. Full marks as they say on another addition to sebastien's bibliography.
what stood out to me the most and in turn inspired me to write a review was Joe Jameson's narration. there aren't many narrators that are so good I think of their name as a sort of endorsement of an author's work, but from here on out I'll be looking for Joe Jameson.

good writing, excellent narration.

Yeah I can’t talk in detail without spoiling it. Make sure you have read your books and I hope you enjoy what unfolds. It was great!

You did that?

Great addition to the series. Captivating story that makes you want more, great world building, and the narrator brings everything together. Highly recommend

I could listen to Joe Jameson read a phone book. I enjoy De Castell’s humorous fantasy chaos.

All in all, pretty enjoyable

If I don't like a book, I return it and leave no review, but in some cases I keep trying and trying and finally give up. The author endlessly and by that i mean never stops TALKING. He talks through the exposition. Blah blah blah...blah and just when you get to the tiniest morsel of plot...he talks over it, under it, around it, analyzes it, gives the option you might have, didn't have, could have, should have and then everyone else's opinion. The narrator should stop all thoughts of using any form of American accent. they are, it is, horrifying. The first book was irritating but fun and the plot moved, but this is...I don't know. If you are an untalented philosopher, a weak narrator and a sub-optimal dialogue maker, then lean into plot and the world will forgive your faults. But he does the opposite. The flimsy theology and childish discourse dies on the vine inside the 98% droning exposition internal dialogue. Tell the story and get out of the way. Occasionally drop in with some exposition. Holy smokes, you know you can do better. This was poor.

Blah, blah, blah....blah
