Great cast of characters

This was a surprisingly good series. Author put together a fantastic cast with compelling stories. Very well narrated!

Another 5 star fantasy series by Aaron Hodges

The Legends of the Gods is the second fantasy trilogy by NYT bestselling author Aaron Hodges, and I have no doubt in saying this author is absolutely one of the best in the genre. I'd give this series 6 stars if I could.

Aaron's writing is exceptional and always keeps me up late at night, totally immersed in his worlds, and this series is no different. I've read all three twice and am in the second listening of the audiobook. If you're looking for gripping epic fantasy with complex, dynamic characters and fantastic world building with lots of adventure, then definitely pick up his work. Best part, this audiobook includes all three books in the series.

The narrator is great, though there's a certain quality to his voice that I can't quite out my finger on that bugged me a little at first. But the storytelling is so great you completely lose yourself in it, and I found I really enjoyed the narrator once I got into it. So, definitely take a chance on it. You won't regret it. It's fast become a favourite out of my audio library.

I've now got all of this author's audiobooks, and I can't wait for his next project. One of my favourite fantasy authors, hands down.

Great Mythology Fantasy

It's really pretty awesome when they offer all three books as one on Audible. If you like stories like Percy Jackson then this one is a must-have. It was really well-written and keeps your attention throughout but I did have some minor issues with the narration. I would not say it was bad but it just didn't fit well for my son and me. I ended up finishing without him because it just didn't keep his attention. He's 10 yrs old and I usually have to take the headphones away from him because he loves audiobooks. Just listen to the sample and decide if you like the style of the narrator and if you don't get the books instead.

A new spin on magic, gods, and abusive fathers

I thoroughly enjoyed the world, characters, and story developed by Aaron Hodges. You're immediately drawn into the main characters' struggles and plights, where people fit into the world, and wondering why some dads are just....bad. There are always a few bad apples in everyone's family right?

The only con for me is David Stifel's narration. It might just be me, but I don't feel his narration fit the story. It bothered me from beginning to end, sometimes significantly impacting me to the point of drawing me out of the story, but not so bad as to force me stop listening. I would certainly recommend that you listen to a sample!

Ultimately, the story is entertaining, complete, and full of twists, developments, and engaging characters that kept me entertained until the end. I believe you will enjoy it.

Fantastic Adventure!

David Stifel does a brilliant telling of the story. It was delightful to hear the reading after reading the story first. He made it come alive. The magic and adventure was awesome.
Aaron Hodges has a brilliant talent for writing exciting stories and making you feel like you're the main character. Making you feel the magic of his world he has created.

Amazing epic fantasy with epic narration

Legend of the Gods is best sort of epic fantasy, including just right amount of everything you can hope for. Great characters with interesting background stories, skills and subplots. Story is building slow and have nice twists - not huge ones as author is slowly preparing you for what will come, but it is definitely not predictable. It was great ride with great ending.

As for narration - its really hard to get used to voice of narrator and honestly - we (I have been listening with my wife) really dislike the voice at start. But during first book - we both not only get used to Mr. Stifel voice(s) but enjoyed the narration and his scale of voices. And now when trilogy is finished, I don't know how I'm supposed to live without his amazing "Aye" :)

Small issue with narration was that narrator choose too childish voice for main heroine and too deep and adult voice for main hero - its kind of weird when they are flirting... seems like 12 year old girl with 40 year old dude (in fact they are much closer in age but).

And, for both me and my wife, this was not only first audio book we ever listened to but also first audio book in English (we are not English native speakers). I'm happy we picked this one :)

Never what you expect

The author does a great job describing in detail each and every scene of the story. It is always nice to be able to picture what is taking place and how it would look. The story is interesting throughout. There are really no slow parts at all and the character development in logical and fits the story. The biggest takeaway is that at so many turns, just when you think you know what will happen next, there's a twist. Rarely was I able to predict the outcome of the key parts of the book. Even the final scene in the trilogy had about 3 plot twists that kept you guessing until the very last minute. If you like adventure, fantasy, dragons and such, this would be a great trilogy.

Good listen

I received this audiobook free at my request for an unbiased review.

The books are full of action and intrigue. From the start you’re immediately drawn to the main character and his plight. As the story continues and builds to the finale you will be excited, sad, happy, depressed, and every other emotion in between.
There does seem to be quite a few redundancy’s with the words in the later books that can be a bit annoying, but doesn’t take away from the story.

The narrator was well spoken but his character voices seemed a little forced and in genuine.

Overall it was a well done series .
